Ghosn: There will be no 4-door Nissan GT-R
Nissan’s CEO, Carlos Ghosn, recently shot down rumors of a 4-door version of the Nissan GT-R. Ghosn said that the rumor of a sedan GT-R is nothing more than speculation from overzealous bloggers. However, if you remember it was our trustworthy MotorTrend boys that reported the speculation citing a senior Nissan executive as their source.

It was reported in the beginning of February that Nissan is studying the possibility of a 4-door Nissan and may sell it under the Infiniti badge since the market may shy away from paying $85,000 for a car with a Nissan...

I agree. They need to bring back the Infiniti Q soon, and it would be great if they had a performance line too.

And Toyota's performance line is TRD, but they also developed F for Lexus. That's what I mean.

Nissan needs to make a new flagship luxury sedan for Infiniti. I agree with you on that. If they want to be in serious contention with Lexus they must bring back a Q.

Just like Acura needs to step it up a notch and bring in a full-size V8 powered model.

EL34 says thank goodness only because he's afraid of how well a 4 door GT-R would perform.

Yeah, I don't think that a 4door GT- R would work well financially for them. Bring back the Q but make it a legitimate competitor for the S class, 7 series and LS's of the world. Infiniti does need a performance engine and or division to deal with the M's,AMG and V's of the world as well. Unfortunately for them all the cars I just mentioned have gotten so good it really comes down to a matter of choice over performance.

i think it was a good idea. it would be an exotic addition to the infiniti line up. they have some really good cars right now, but having a highly performance oriented sedan with a rear mounted transmission could yield an infiniti quattroporte. not that i suggest they blow off the fullsize segment, but they would be offering a unique car.

wouldn't infiniti love to be in comparisons with the cls, quattroporte and panamera? it may be the best thing to further strengthen their performance oriented image.

they would be going out on a limb, but i think it would be highly rewarding.

i like how every supposed Performance sedan that comes out is always classified as a " M3 Killer ". The IS-F fans came out of the wood work stating that & look what happened. I doubt that Infiniti will be able to build such a beast as you describe. Especially, since you say it will be priced about $8k lower than the M3. The M3 and the IS-F are about the same price within a $1k or so. Their current G35 suspension, are you crazy. That car would handle horribly with that kind of power.

who said that people are not going to pay 85 thousand dollars for a GTR with Nissan badge on it, who on earth dared to retort this words. Nissan skyline GTR is a legendary marque, and it has been pronounced with utter respect by enthusiasts all over the world, so anyone who knows about sports cars knows about the legendary legacy of Nissan GTRs. And when a GTR can be better than a Porsche 997 turbo, up until the debut of GTR it was probably the most dynamic and competent sports car in the world, even a moron with enough spare cash will be willing to buy the GTR even with it's nissan badge for 85 thousand dollars, because a turbo 997 will set you back about 110 thousand dollars.
