The 2009 Forester is on my shopping list as it has at least two models with LSD at the rear in addition to a wonderful torque sensing center differential which appears to provide winter performance as good as Audi's Quattro at much lower cost. Also the new Forester has 8.9 inches of ground clearance. I live in Edmonton, Alberta so you can see why I am enthusiastic about this new vehicle -- I have to test the seats as poor seats would be a deal breaker.

I hope there are lots of SUVs on that list (the link doesn't work for me) since you'll need an extra 4 inches of clearance to avoid wrecking your vehicle.

When the plows come by or when you're switching lanes on the highway, there's nothing worse than hearing the bottom of your car acting as a plow.

His version of winter migh be different than mine. Mine involves 2 feet of snow on a regular basis. Speaking of which, even with the thaw, we still have a foot out on my lawn and the grooves/potholes are horrendous.
