Google Local Search now available in BMW (with video)
announced today the availability of Google local search for Germany. For the first time ever, you can use Google Maps to look lfor local information anywhere Germany.

“When you find what you want, the details are transferred to the navigation system and car phone at the touch of a button. The system identifies the location and destination of the vehicle automatically and displays the results in the vicinity with details of address, phone number and distance.”

By the way that new feature Mercedes announced today with the “Send to Car” option, Google and BMW have been offering the function for transferring search results from the Google Maps website directly to the car for some time now. Step it up Mercedes.

MSN mobile search (not the overall search engine) is better, I wish they'd offer that as an option, and fold in "Birds eye view" of the street you are driving on, and overlay this with transparent arrows in the heads-up display.

google maps--like gmail--is so vastly superior to the other less sophisticated search engines. (the reason google's market capitalization dwarfs all the others combined)

Google is good, but not the best. It's the marketing that has the fanboys here thinking its the best. Yahoo Maps and Google Maps are very similar, if you didn't know that.

OK sure, but you're running off a Windows CE OS in most cases, don't think that this function will actually 'work'.

Windows CE is perfectly capable of supporting any of those features. So is Windows Mobile.
