Happy New Year: Nissan will begin taking orders for GT-R on Jan 1, 2008
What a better way to celebrate the New Years than ordering a brand new Nissan GT-R for yourself. According to the Los Angeles Times, Nissan will begin taking orders for the brand new Nissan GT-R on January 1, 2008 while deliveries will begin sometime in June 2008.
Nissan is allocating only 1,500 units of the GT-R for the U.S. next year with a starting price of $69,850. The premium model will run you...

It's called Marketing Hype.
"Get yours now because supply is limited"
Oh what a tangled web Nissan weaves, When first Nissan practises to deceive!

lame excuse.
AMG engines are all assembled by hand. and each engine is signed by the master engineer who created it. yet AMG manages to produce tens of thousands of cars across more than a dozen models.

do you deboosters have a better explanation than lexusadmirer's ridiculous reason as to why the volume is so tiny? apparently you do...

It's a sports car. It has to be exclusive. Why are the M3 and M5 sold in low volume? It's the same thing.

enthusiastx11...
You already know the answer. You've been complaining about it.
It's a $70,000 nissan. Obviously they want to see if people are going to buy it before committing into making large volume.
That's just common sense.

They can't be taking orders without disclosing some of the GTR's outrageous costs!!!
I read in Japan they charged $5,000 for the first tune-up, and $10,000 for changing the brakes at 10,000 miles.
Nissan needs to release all prices, like they did in Japan, before taking orders. I know that some will say it will still be cheaper than the 911 Turbo with those costs. But the point is there may be more hidden, outrageous maintenance costs that we don't know about that would push the price of the GTR to near the 911 Turbo territory. And at that range, who wouldn't take the 911 Turbo over this ugly thing?

Are you seriously telling me you believe that extravagant story ?
$5000 for a Tune Up & $10000 for Brake Change after just 10,000 miles ???
Not even the F430 Scuderia costs that much in Maintenance

They sold 2300 of the in just two weeks in Japan so 1500 in a year for the US isn't a problem.
And please don't be a hater 0-60 in 4.5 are you smoking crack 3.5 is the time. And nothing is a hype the GT-R laped the ring in 7:38 its a official time and when has nissan ever exaggerated?
So please don't be a hater take it like a man.

Kaiser........
You use the Power/Weight Ratio as if that is all that matters, have you heard of a little thing called Tourque.
Then there are Gearing Ratios, AWD Systems, Launch Control for Max Accel, Tyre Quality & Design
I have heard the term " The Whole Is Greater Than The Sum Of Its Parts" and i hope you have too.
I DO think the numbers are achieveable and hopefully they will be proved by independent testing, as Nissan are not known for claiming fictional peformance figures for their Skyline Models.
Same Levels of Incredulity were leveled at the Nissan Sunny GTI R when it was launched and it blew away most Sports cars up to 60 mph { And that was just a small hatch}

If they want to sell only 1500units/yr. then they should price it like a super car like in excess of 100K. You know that no dealer will let one go out the door without at least a 15-20K added to the sticker. I just wish they would take this hype out of very time a hot car comes out. You will probably see the same thing with the Dodge Challenger and Chevy Camaro, but at least they will be short lived since they will have volume numbers in the 30-90K respectively.

That's the POINT. DEMAND should always be > SUPPLY. Of COURSE there will be more people ordering them, but Nissan wants a WAITING LIST.

I knew this would happen.
Everyone that liked the Nissan GT-R over the weekend are now bored with it.
BTW the taillights look like those on a VW Golf ;)

Obviously you do not understand the free market system. When demand = supply is when you get stable prices. By keeping the supply low the price will go up. Good luck in getting one at 70K!!!

It's not for me. It's NISSAN. They WANT to sell this car at a premium. Is that hard for you to understand? It's just business.
How do you think Ferrari can still afford to stick $20K markups on the F430, which came out in 2005? Audi charging up to $50K extra to get an R8 off the showroom floor? It's all the same. If a car is desirable they want to keep it that way.

Very impressive spec 3.8-liter twin-turbo V-6 that pumps out a whopping 480 bhp and 430 lb-ft of torque is no joke. This is the best thing out of Japan since the NSX. Good job Nissan!
