Americans have always bestowed little cars with the infamous "chick car" status. Cars like Volkswagen's Eos, the MINI Cooper and the Smart ForTwo have all come under such heat. But, the Fiat 500 has taken it to another level.
The Italian manufacturer has decided to produce a limited run of 500s in bright pink.
Paris Hilton probably already has one on order.
As a lover of the 500 Abarth SS, I find it somewhat shameless that Fiat has decided to go in this direction.
Is there honor in the dollar or has Fiat cemented the 500s place in history as the ultimate "girly car?"
Autocar reports:
"Fiat is launching a limited run of bright pink 500s that it expects to sell mainly to young women.
It will build just 500 examples of the car, inspired by the positive reaction to its one-off Barbie show car last year.
The special edition Fiat 500 will get a similar shade of pink paint on the outside, but a more conservative interior. Inside will be black, not pink and silver, but buyers will get a pink key cover and special carpet mats..."
