No, really. Think about it.

The wedge-shaped sports has taken the field by force. Though one can argue that the wedge-shaped sports car has been around for YEARS, it seems that the Audi R8 has given it a modern day injection of vitality.

Recently we've seen the new Acura NSX concept make its debut and there are some similarities -- Mid-engine set up, large grill, venting towards the mid-mounted motor past the B-Pillar.

Then there are cars like the Lotus Evora and all-new Infiniti Emerg-E. Though I've made a clear point to address that they're similar, I think it's blatantly obvious at this point: The Emerg-E is based on an Evora chassis.

Hell, even the BMW i8 seems to follow the wedge-shaped principles.

Now why didn't we see other automakers -- like BMW, Mercedes-Benz or Porsche -- lead this styling charge? Though front-engined grand tourers, like the BMW 6-Series and Mercedes-Benz CL, are highly desired they don't exactly have people up in arms or putting posters up on their wall.

The question we're wondering is simple: Is Audi leading the styling push of the 21st century automotive industry?

It already ensured that just about every luxury brand NEEDS LED lights, has it also made sure that everyone needs to compete with a mid-engine, wedge-shaped product?
