He Gets 50MPG On His REGULAR Honda Accord- We Show You How You Can Too!
In conventional vehicles they can often match the mileage of an average person driving an equivalent hybrid. Hypermilers driving hybrids tend to achieve tremendous mileage, with some even exceeding 100 MPG . That being said, anyone can learn a wide variety of these skills. This site is dedicated to educating the driver of these techniques, so that they can raise their vehicles fuel economy no matter what they drive.
While Hypermiling is about a variety of techniques to improve a vehicles fuel economy, Hypermiling should not be equated with dangerous driving. While some hypermilers favor certain advanced practices that entail some risk and are in some areas illegal, these are not required nor encouraged. There are many basic techniques that are safe and actually make you a better driver, it is up to you, as a driver, to find your own particular level of comfort and fuel economy.
Hypermiler is a term coined by Wayne Gerdes to describe a driver who strives to exceed their vehicle's EPA fuel economy rating.

saying 46 or the exact number next time would be better informative. no need to round it up just to get everyone extra excited, oo1. might get some of the readers a little angry. im sure you remember how people reacted over mis-leading titles back in the day

The one that really needs to get a life is the "mileage champion" in this article. What a loser...

Didn't somebody post an article like this a few months back?
I remember the term HyperMiling... some guy got like 180MPG in a Honda Insight or something.
Interesting article, but some of the practices aren't necessarily great for the car. But I guess it's beneficial in the short run.

generally, ANYTHING that causes less fuel to be run thru your engine IS GOOD for it.

So running a 22:1 AFR is GOOD for an engine????

running extra lean does no harm, provided temps are not excessive. modern cooling systems appear capable of keeping them in a reasonalbe range.
there is also the concept of engine longevity in terms of hp-hours. the less power demanded, the longer the engine life.
