Hit or Miss: Tuner Fabulous Takes a Shot at the LS460
Fabulous, the Japanese tuner has just released this body kit for the LS460. While there are no engine modifications to compliment the body panels, they did toss in some massive 22’’ alloys in 245/30 tires up front and 295/22 on the rear.

While the kit is undoubtedly more aggressive than the stock styling, we are at odds on if it should be a Hit or a Miss?

The LS is a great sedan, but really, I'd like you to explain why the eight-speed automatic is the "most advanced transmission in the world?" All they did was add an extra cog. When Mercedes came out with the first seven-speed, were we calling it the "most advanced in the world?" There are more technologically significant transmissions out there, such as the semi-automatics and dual-clutch automated manual gearboxes.

Yeah right! the most advanced transmission in a street legal car is Audi's DSG (now called S-Tronic) with it's dual clutch system. It's extremely fast but also very smooth in the same time. Even BMW is following Audi on that one, they are trying right now to jump on the market with something similar (dual clutch-I heard they are developing/testing it now).

How does this destroy the Euro tuners? Brabus for example has some pretty advanced engine technology and modifications. This Lexus was only changed visually.

I love the work lexus does... don't get me wrong... but if you think that the more gears a transmission has, the more advanced it is, then I think all CVT tranny's have the lexus 8 speed beat.... infinity > 8...

DSG does not = AUDI or VW

DSG= BorgWarner http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BorgWarner

VW/Audi have rocked it since, rocked it well I might add. It made the entire lineup carrying that trans pretty hot.

Josh

p.s. This has nothing to do with the uber hot lexus above. Sporting 100% more VIP :)

The LS460 would look great if it had 22 inch rims and a lift kit, but I don't like this at all.

Perfection perfected. Cool. So the car was incomplete from the beginning. :)
And if perfection can be perfected, I expect someone else is gonna perfect it even more. Cause it's not good enough YET ! It will never be for me.

I like the rims, but I'd rather they kept the badge on the grille, and I don't like what they did to the windows.

It's a hit if the target audience is 8 year old boys.

99% of aftermarket stuff and the "tuners" that make them are pure crap.

Debadging a car is especially stupid.

Such as 19" versions of the ones on the IS350? Those twin five-spokes are hot-- they make the IS350 so much better-looking than the IS250. I doubt the designers of the LS's staid, bland rims were the same people.

Pt the badge back on the grille and you've got yorself a nice aftermarket-tuned vehicle. What's so "excessive" about it? The only "excessive" thing about it are the rims, which could have been worse. I'm also glad there's no giant wing on the back.

Miss.Stock one is much better.
That kit would fit and look better on caddies or BMWs.

BTW,I like Tuner TOM's work more. They understand Brand Lexus better and what each of its models represents.
LS represents luxury therefore its styling should be understated and fine-looking.

I don't know what Yakuza you know but that's not what they ONLY drive. I have been to Japan and strangely met some as well in a lounge. They do drive JDM's. However they do love the S-Class & E-Class I agree with you on that. Merc's are one of the top picks in that society.

Visually this is nice. I would have put some other rims on there but Lexus doesn't have the luxury of having companies like Brabus, Carlsson, and etc to tune cars for their brand specifically like Mercedes does.

The car looks stunning in black and more sporting. However, most of the owners of an LS probably will not do this to their car as the typical age group is a bit higher. If they wanted to have a tuned car they would go for an IS or even the GS. My two cents.

Overall: 8.5/10

All the thing needs is a MBZ hood ornament to complete the look alike. Will Lexus ever get over that they make cars in Japan and that Japanese food doesn't mix well with Germman deli delights?

If I give you $5 will you stop saying that Lexus stole the stupid rear window curve?

First, look at the new Aston designs. Did they steal the curve too?

Second, if BMW really had ownership of the damn "kink" surely they would have brought about legal action by now.

Maybe GM should trademark a circle, call it the "General's Disc" and sue everyone else for putting wheels on their cars.

Terrible. Never was a fan of aftermarket body kits and this is just terrible. What a way to ruin a classy looking car.

And to the Lexus trolls: This tuner in no way destroys the European tuners, who also perform advanced engine modifications on the cars they tune. This Fabulous tuner just changed the look of the car. That's nothing difficult. I could change the look of my S550 with some tape, cardboard and some Type-R VTEC NISMO AMG M "stickaz" too...

Ford came up with the opposing window kink in the 1940s. Did Hoffy work for Ford?
http://www.relicsandrods.com/ClubInfo/VehicleImages/Current/40Ford-Howardson.jpg

He'd be just the first in a long line of BMW designers who copy, copy and copy some more. Bangle has graciously carried on that tradition.

Dual headlights, the window kink, the slab-butt and on and on.

This one shows you where BMW stole the headlights from and how they got their idea for the twin kidney grille (look up late 1960s BMWs).
http://www.americancarsuk.com/Previous_Cars/Edsel/Ford_Edsel.jpg

I guess Ford built a time machine too so they could go and steal future designs from the Germans.

Fabulous is trying to do the whole Brabus tuning thing but it looks more rice than maintaining the luxury car look. On top of that no performance upgrades were made. Why even bother with this? Leave it stock and drive it as it is. Lexus is no Mercedes so why even try attempting the 'aftermarket tuning'.

It's over done. Unless you like the ricer look this car is meant to be a luxury sedan not a sports sedan like the baby Lexus IS. The rims put it very out of place alongside the Brabus//Carlsson tuning. On top of that Fabulous didn't do any performance enhancements to the LS. I mean if you're going to go as far as tune a car like this you might as well add some more punch to it.

Oh well, it's not the worst i've seen but it's overdone for an LS that's all i'm saying.
