Honda CEO Takes Takes A Dump On GM's Volt Concept
Honda Motor Co. Chief Executive Takeo Fukui said so-called plug-in hybrid gasoline-electric vehicles offered too few environmental benefits for his company to pursue, and noted that an advanced hybrid vehicle called the Chevrolet Volt that General Motors Corp. is aiming to launch in a few years made little sense.

If Honda was able to come up with low-cost, safe and high-performing lithium-ion batteries, the Japanese executive hinted Honda would rather use them for an electric vehicle.

Yes, They criticize someone elses product but fail to offer a better alternative on their own. Sounds like they are full of it to me.

Honda ain't scared they are playing smart...remember GM created the Saturn EV1(also a plug-in) back in 1997, and then GM bailed out like scared little school girls...now that's the definition of scared, actually throw in coward white collar bastards as part of the deal....LMAO!!!

You know, they're actually going through with this one.

You are delusional...The EV1 was a poor business case on many levels.
It is a shame that they dropped the program all together, but I am hoping their commitment to the Volt will really change the industry.

Honda should be scared of Subaru not GM.
Subaru has an electric vehicle since 2003 Japan Auto show.
Subaru has the 100% electric R1e and R2e in Japan streets since 2006.

This is why Toyota is teaming up with them... And the first compagny with almost a full line up of hybrid vehicule is saying the same about the lithium-ion batteries... unsafe and not up to spec. The next Prius was supposed to have lithium-ion batteries but they are not ready so they will stick with NiMh

I don't how anyone can actually think Honda would be scared of GM! Honda is the most fuel efficient car maker in America. People on this board no so little about Honda that that is scary!

Honda has superb engineering, but they can't touch GM in terms of sales volume. GM may be pushing Honda and Toyota out of the green scene with this car, which is what scares them.

A good primer for people who actual want to know more about Honda (rather than shooting their mouths off and sounding really dumb)
