Honda has started sketching out the next-generation S2000 roadster, but the current version will live on until 2009.

The manufacturer's models typically have far shorter lifespans than that, but small sales of the sporty car mean it will be 10 years old when it's replaced.

In the meantime, Honda has added a few tiny tweaks into the range, restyling the alloy wheels and adding the option of a stability control system for £300.

The new S2000 could appear in the same year as the latest version of the NSX supercar. Although the HSC concept pointed to its replacement at the Tokyo Motor Show back in 2003, the NSX is thought to be delayed over design difficulties.

The project is still going ahead, however. Another concept developing the HSC theme is expected to be unveiled at the Detroit Motor Show next January.
