Honda Motor Co. plans to invest 8 billion yen ($69 million) to build a new plant in western Japan to boost its capacity to produce key components for its hybrid cars, media reports said Sunday.

Japan's No. 3 automaker plans to build the plant on the grounds of Honda's Suzuka factory in Mie prefecture (state), which would allow the company to quadruple its output capacity for electric motors to 200,000 units a year, Japan's business daily Nihon Keizai reported
