Honda to boost Civic production due to increasing sales
As a result of high gas prices and a shift to smaller cars, sales of the Civic were up almost 15 percent in the first four months of the year to 111,695 and also performed well in May. Honda is now looking to increase production of the Civic for 2008.

According to American Honda chief Dick Colliver, Honda will try to “squeeze” more units out of its Civic plants, possibly by working overtime. In April, Civic production output was up 24.8 percent 66,001 units at the Alliston No. 1 plant. Its East Liberty play, Honda produced...

Sounds like a good idea. I hope quality doesn't suffer.

Star, you talk as if you've studied the automotive throughly and is capable of credible comments because you're a test driver.

Again, what car do you drive that you can compare to the Civic that makes it such a "POS"? I have an LS, S550, and an R8 and even I don't call the Civic a POS. Honda's not bad quality. They are an economy brand for the masses and they do their job correctly. If they were such bad quality I don't think you would see that many on the road.

I've seen a fair share of Suzuki's and KIA's around as well.

Quit talking trash if you can't back it up with anything.

" If they were such bad quality I don't think you would see that many on the road."

I disagree. The masses buy what they are told to buy while telling themselves that they did real research before buying. Right...

If you don't know anything about computers and want to buy one how are you going to decide which is best for you?
There are three choices(just like with cars) you read a magazine, ask a few friends or ask somebody who knows about computers(always best solution).

Same with cars. The average guy will choose between following the advice in Consumer Reports or other BS magazines, ask a few friends that have no idea about cars(all drive beige Civics or Corollas) but unfortunately almost never ask somebody who actually knows about cars. People especially in America think that they will get all the information they need from their computer so there is no need for them to ask somebody knowledgeable.
An increasing number of people buy Hondas and Toyotas without even test driving them. The car buyer in America is brainwashed to the point where he believes that you just cannot go wrong when you buy a Honda or Toyota product. A lot of them had terrible experiences with these cars but in spite of that continue to believe that this is the best they can get for their money. Yes, is that bad.

But did you ever think people buy Hondas and Toyotas without test driving them because they trust their product from before?

And if you think American car buyers are "brainwashed" then there are a lot of Lexus drivers who are brainwashed. I live in Canada so I guess I can't say I understand the American marketing strategies but when I got my LS I didn't ask any friends but of course I did read reviews and I based my judgment from there. I sat in the car, test drove it, and took about a week and a half to decide. Mind you I already had an S550 before that so it wasn't like I was going into the next transaction blind or brainwashed. I knew what to expect and it delivered.

It's really hard this day and age to call a "POS". I'd say most cars are built well and to meet industry standards they are offered great warranty's just in case so buyers are fairly safe.

...but you still didn't ask somebody who knows about cars to help you with your decision. You just thought you know enough about cars to make a decision didn't you? How typical. Everybody thinks they know about sports and cars. They don't.
You bought a bad car but you don't even know it(which could ultimately be a good thing, sort of). However your Lexus purchase is still a mistake even if you know it or not.
I do know that the things have to be that way. If everybody would know which cars are really worth the money the others will never sell. Somebody has to buy the trash and even believe that was a good choice.
I'm not going to change the world but the few people that will be smart enough to listen to my opinions will make better automotive choices. That's all I care about.

and Agent63 if you have time go to an Infiniti dealership and test drive a G37 coupe with manual transmission but not before you take the list I made with everything that IMO was wrong with that car.
I'm sure you will be impressed ...not with the car but with how accurate the list is.

I own a 2006 Honda Civic and I have to disagree with most of the posts here especially the ones by Star! You my friend have NO idea what you're talking about. I have 20000 miles on mine and have had ZERO problems with it, no squeaks or rattles. How can you say that it has the most recalls? VW anyone! I want you to find a car that for the money is better than the Civic! You have to remember that this is a compact, economy car. It is not a $30,000 vehicle.

I never said anything about recalls and I do understand that we are talking about an economy car but the VW Rabbit and the Mazda 3 are also economy cars and they are way, way superior cars in every possible way when compared with the lowly Civic.

Sorry to hear that you made the mistake of buying a Civic. Good luck...you are going to need it.
