Hot News: Ford Mondeo Coupe
Ford is taking the Mondeo to the max, with an all-new coupé version offering Mercedes CLS looks for half the price.

The forthcoming Vauxhall Insignia is set to raise the style stakes in the class, while the Volkswagen Passat CC has proved there really is demand for four-door coupés. So the time is right for the ultimate evolution of Ford’s family car to take a bow.

But the Coupé’s arrival also coincides with the blue oval’s increased European profitability. The company’s formula of good looks and strong driver appeal has been so successful on cars such as the standard Mondeo and S-MAX people carrier that confidence among bosses is currently at an all-time high.

I should just copy my comments on Ford and keep pasting them.

Let me know when they make something worth looking at in the US for a sedan and small econo car.

Neat car, but this is a sedan with a fastback, not a coupe. Am I the only one who gets irritated when people call a four door car a coupe?

Yes... You are...

The word Coupé (it is pronounced kupé, not coopay or coop) is derived from french and means cut... Because the roof-line has been cut. It has nothing to do with the number of doors.
If you call it a Mondeo Fastback, nobody, except the inner circle of hardcore car nerds, will know what the hell you are talking about! And I don't think this car is aimed at us (as in those hardcore car nerds)... So I think four-door coupé is exactly the right word (which have been used ever since the Rover P5 Coupé)

Homslar -- no, you're not the only one. I hate it when Mercedes called the CLS a coupe, and I hate that this has now become a trend. I have to agree with many of the other comments here; I am really liking the fact that Ford is bringing their Euro-design direction to the States. I've always liked Ford Europe and never understood why those designs never made it Stateside. Needless to say, I think this a great move for Ford and looking to seeing these models on American streets in the coming years. Keep up the good work, Ford.

Ford has had it all backwards in America. If this car is good enough to sell in Europe, it is definitely good enough to sell here in the U.S.

Ford has been draining itself out of profitability by not working closer with its European division. If they would have shared these designs and brought them here they could have saved a ton of $$$ on development costs, design, and parts sharing. It seems just now they are starting to realize it.

Ford is IMO the dumbest of the US automakers when it comes to making corporate decisions. The future does hold some promise though. This car is absolutely stunning

Actually, they've done some pretty bold moves in europe for years... It's just because they make the most boring cars ever for the US that they got that image! The european products are FAR ahead of the american!

not to mention the austrailians that are also ahead in their game as well...

Very nice looking... Has quite a bit of the design cues from the stunning Iosis-concept! I like it a lot.

Why do Ford USA have a design department? Why don't why just leave the job to the Europeans?

I actually think the current one out looks like the real thing (not the picture above). It's futuristic and it's the definition of a family car!
