Hot news on the new Acura RDX
The 2007 Acura RDX, which delivers a new level of performance, handling and luxury to the sport utility market, makes its debut at Acura retailers nationwide. The performance oriented RDX boasts the exceptional handling of a sports sedan with the utility of a SUV and brings a new level of driving excitement in the growing entry premium crossover SUV segment.
"The 2007 RDX illustrates Acura's passion for developing vehicles that can deliver the ultimate in performance, technology and safety," said Dick Colliver, executive vice president of sales. "For drivers that want the utility of an SUV but demand a sporty driving experience, the RDX truly delivers."

As Lexlover says, for a 4 cylinder Turbocharged, 19/23 is unacceptable!!
That thinkg should have had a V6 that gets the same mileage!

I tend to agree with the low gas mileage based on my own personal preference; but you what those are the same numbers you'll see from any SUV except for the hybrid ones from Toyota/Lexus. Among comparably-sized SUVs its horsepower rating(240hp) is right between let's say the BMW X3(225hp) and the Saturn Vue V6(248hp).
Speaking of comparably sized it is probably this segment that the RDX will compete against to also include the Toyota Rav4, Lexus RX330, Mazda C7, etc. Reviews are good so far in terms of its performance, handling, fun factor, and luxury amenities. Basic asking price is right under 33 grand unless you choose the one and only option called Technology package which will add another 3 grand.
What does all this mean? Well you can read the reviews or experience it yourself through a test drive. My impression is it will compete in an already tight compact SUV market and will probably attract those who want more luxury and performance.
One last point. Acura is overdue to put a hybrid in at least one of their cars. Why let Lexus get all the fame and $$$ when they already have the technology? Acura has got to get on the ball and get more aggressive. Maybe it's not the conservative Honday way.

Of course you know I meant Honda in the last sentence of the previous post... but it got me thinking about 'Honday' versus 'Hyundai'... we got another copycat!! LOL

CommonSense,
But in normal driving conditions, you drive off-boost and therefore fuel economy is largely unaffected.
As with ANY type of engine, driving the car in a spirited fashion will increase fuel consumption. A good turbo-charged four cylinder is no less economical than a V6 with similar (or most likely less) performance.
A V6 doesn't have the over-taking capabilities of a turbo-charged engine, either.

Cartrash and Commonsense,
You both are way off base on this one. I have driven the RDX. First off, there is virtually NO turbolag - that comes from the world's first automotive application of a variable flow turbo. Second, the RDX has more torque than ANY previous Acura EVER!!! The Formula 1 paddle shifters on the steering wheel are a nice add on too. They can be used in sport OR REGULAR drive. You really should try it. Also.... the only current competition in the premium CUV market is the X3, not the X5. The RDX blows away the X3 in 0-60, slalom times, mpg, you name it. Plus, the interior quality, style, and build far surpass anything BMW has ever built. You owe it to yourselves to check it out before you rip on it. It makes you sound uninformed and uneducated.
