Hydrogen Road Tour at the Spartanburg BMW Plant
As we mentioned last week, BMW’s 7 Hydrogen is part of the 2008 Hydrogen Road Tour that will last two weeks and visit 31 cities.

The BMW 7 Hydrogen joins an unprecedented cross-country journey featuring hydrogen-powered cars by the world’s leading automakers. The purpose of this unique tour: to call on congressional leaders to support the creation of a nationwide hydrogen fueling station infrastructure.

With this being said, let’s move on and see some photos of the 7 Hydrogen. Our dear friend Palbay from Upstate SC came through again. Being a huge bimmer fan, he couldn’t miss the opportunity of seeing the tour, and implicitly the 7 Hydrogen at the Spartanburg BMW Plant.

Along with the 7, there were hydrogen based cars such as: Hyundai Tucson,Kia Sportage,Toyota Highlander,VW Touran, Mercedes A-Class and Nissan X-Trail.

what is the point in using hydrogen when it takes more energy to create it than it produces?

That is the case with every energy storage medium. That is simple physics, not an arguement. When petrol becomes expensive enough and creating hydrogen becomes less expensive it will become an obvious choice for consumers who are looking for a fun to drive, internal combustion engine that is clean burning and does not create high intensity electromagnetic fields where the occupants are seated as do electric cars.

I have been seeing Hydrogen cars as concepts since the old late 90's 7 series had it. The technology is obviously ready for mainstream. So instead of car companies waiting for the oil and fuel big guys to move forward with the infrastructure, why not join up with each other and create one.

That way instead of filling up at Sunoco or Mobil, you are going to BMW or Honda stations to top off.

BMW's glitchy wiring/electrics plus hydrogen = a bomb that'll comfortably seat 4 people.

my bad the second part of my statement is true. How is the brand of Toyota doing in Nascar now, since they have been busted cheating. So much for that relaibility arguement
