According to Korean newspaper, Chosun IIbo, Hyundai as announced that it will introduce a hybrid-electric vehicle in 2009. The Avante hybrid (Avante is the Korean version of the Elantra) will be powered by liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) rather than standard gasoline.
