Hyundai Gives Up On The Ever Shrinking Tokyo Motor Show Canceling Weeks Ahead

After witnessing all of the Detroit 3 pull out from the 2009 Tokyo motor show, we didn’t think the Japanese show could grow even smaller -- but it has.

New reports claim Hyundai has also withdrawn from the show, just weeks before it is scheduled to open to the press.

According to Toyokazu Ishida, a representative from the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA), Hyundai “called last week and Hyundai called last week and orally confirmed their intent to cancel. It's unbelievable.”

It's a logical move by Hyundai.
Tokyo auto show is going to be small this year, and Hyundai has no market in Japan.
Japaneses are loyal to their country and will not buy Hyundai that is becoming serious competition with Japanese auto worldwide.

Americans do buy Japanese products. The Camry and Accord to the 2 best selling cars. But I know what you are trying to say and there is a reason that is the case

Maybe Hyundai does infact know what shame is and they can't handle the ridicule/truth without the Korean gov't protecting them?

It could be Korea just wants to be associated with white countries (i.e. hanging out with their brothers in Germany and Scotland).

Or it could be that they are gaining ground fast in the USA while struggling in Japan and have decided to focus their resources where it will do the most good. Hyundai is on their game!

Atleast Japan's sole purpose isn't to be as white as possible while trying to feel superior to their two yellow neighbours. Maybe they should start calling South Korea "Michael Jackson Land" instead?
