Hyundai Sets It Sights On The Luxury Market With A Target Of 50,000 Genesis Per Year
Hyundai Motor Co. expects to sell up to 50,000 of its new premium Genesis model in the U.S. market once both the sedan and an upcoming coupe version are in showrooms, a Hyundai executive said today.

"I think it's reasonably achievable," Hyundai vice president for product development John Krafcik told reporters.

Krafcik said Hyundai could sell up to 20,000 of the sedans and 30,000 of the coupes annually.

I would be surprised if they don't sell 100k per year.

Okay, enough already- I truly don't know the reason why there have been an ever increasing number of posts that are nothing more than insults and ad hominem, but it has become excessive and ridiculous.

Would you treat people in the same manner face-to-face? If not, then you are a coward hiding behind a veil of anonymity- and if so, then you are in my view, simply a poor excuse for a human being.

If you disagree with someone, then address the issue with which you disagree with them.

Seems like a couple of decent cars. However, I think realisticly their real market and target is Honda, Nissan, and Toyota.

What is the price targeted for? If it is priced the same as a Lexus/BMW/MB - it will probably fall short. People will say - why spend x when I can get a L/B/M for x? Image and not performance will have a lot to do with the success of this car.

Hyundai did do one smartthing, just to cover their a$$e$.
The made the coupe, which is really a Tiburon replacement, and has as much in common with the Genesis as I do with Jessica Biel, they made the coupe carry the Genesis name.
So when the $35k Hyundai falls on it's face, they can hide the numbers behind the coupe, which should be call Tiburon. They can sell 40k of those easier, but that is overpriced too.
Slick, in a shady kinda way.
Hyundai can't hide failure from me, doh.
Try as they might.

If you are chasing Lexus, you'd better beef up customer service. Does anyone know when Lexus sold 50,000 LS 400 in the first years of launching the brand ?
