Hyundai i10 to receive new 800cc three-cylinder turbocharged engine

Is this low cost car made in India too?
Is it around the price of a Tata Nano?
I will pick it over the Nano.

Is the passenger seat an optional extra? The average American is way too fat to fit in a near K-Car class vehicle.

No TECHGEEK this car is in the same class as the Chevy Spark, MINI Cooper, and Audi A1. It an A Segment car. The TATA Nano is a Sub-A Segment car. Sub A Segment cars except for the Smart are usually no more than $5500.

A Segment cars are usually no less than $6000 and no more than $10,000. A Segment cars are usually about the size of the C Segment Toyota Corolla from 20 years ago or a B Segment Hyundai Accent from 10 years ago. I see plenty of Fat Americans riding in 10 year old Accents.

90 HP is enough for Americans to buy it, it would sell better as a KIA though, and price it at $7800.

I'd be surprised if they allowed Hyundai's Polo ripoff to come to N.America. It's 0-60 time has to be approaching the 30 second mark, that's a safety hazard for other people with real cars.
The pathetic Polo 1.2PS takes 16.5seconds to merge into traffic.

That's great Smoke, maybe you'd like to offer up some numbers on the 800cc version.

My friend's 650cc motorcycle probably takes atleast 4sec to hit 100km/h. Above piece of junk weighs a little more than a motorcycle.

No rear airbags either not that it'd make much of a difference in something that small. A Honda Goldwing would destroy it.

Unrelated note, its kind of funny that Hyundai has a Matrix in Europe. Can't even think up their own names.

$12,000 isn't all that cheap for a cheap car considering Hyundai sells cars for less than that here.
Can Hyundai beat Tata's $2500 Nano? Wonder how much money the Republic of Korea is willing to let Hyundai burn?

The i10 gets a 5 star Euro Crash Rating huu. The i10 amd i20 are made with new manufacturing techniques, technology, and materials and have a more upmarket feel than the Accent or Getz. Of course they are going to charge more.

huu, Hyundai is working on a $3500 car called the Green baby.

The Matrix will be replaced by the 2011 i25 (i20) MPV in development, huu. The i25 might be used as an Accent here, it is just a possiblity though, not a greenlight yet.

The Matrix came out 2 years before the Toyota Corolla Matrix. The Hyundai came out in 2001, the Toyota came out in 2003, huu. So whos the Copier, Hummmmm.....?

hyundaismoke - just a s a random observation with no real relevance to the thread: European and UK segmentation is slightly different. i10 would be A-Segment (so the smallest city car segment) whilst a Mini is a B-Segment or 'Supermini' vehicle. Demand for smaller cars in Europe is such that this sector is considerable and one of the few that showed signs of growth whilst virtually every other area was hit by the current economic situation. Competitors to the Hyundai i10 include the Ford Ka, Citroen C1, Peugeot 107, Toyota Aygo, Fiat Panda, Kia Picanto, VW Fox etc etc. B-Segment would then include models such as the VW Polo, Ford Fiesta, Vauxhall Corsa, Mini (although this stands out within the segment as a niche product in it's own right), Mazda 2, Hyundai i20 etc etc. BMW and Audi don't enter our market until the C-Segment (with 1-Series and A3 respectively).

The MINI is kind of small to be a B segment, even though its classified as such. The Clubman (Accent, Rio, Versa, SX4 sized) is the size of a proper American B-Segment. The MINI is like the Yaris and the VW Bettle, so small in terms of space that it cancels out any praticality.
