Hyundai plans Formula One team for 2010
South Korea's top carmaker Hyundai Motor Co. is in talks to enter its own team for the country's first Formula One grand prix in 2010, Germany's Automobilwoche weekly said in its online edition on Sunday.

"Talks with Formula One chief Bernie Ecclestone are in progress," the magazine quoted a Hyundai manager as saying.

Automobilewoche also quoted Hyundai's Europe manager Gerry Dorizas as saying: "I know only that we will start a new motorsport engagement in the rally field in 2008."

Ecclestone said earlier this month he would help to bring up Korean Formula One drivers in the hope of having a Korean team take part in the race one day

People laughed when Toyota announced their F1 plans, and look at them now.

People will laugh at Hyundai upon hearing this - let's hope they proof them wrong.

Is the Hyundai F1 car going to just be a carbon copy of Mercedes like their production cars are?

Calling someone a redneck is not being nice and you know it.

Go see a NASCAR race in Las Vegas or at the California Speedway.

razzy.. I think they're fusions... not tauruses. (chargers and monte carlos). But I'm not sure, we don't get enough NASCAR in England.

Toyota finished 6th in the F1 constructors championship, behind Renault, Ferrari, MclarenMercedes, Honda and BMW. In fact they are the lowest ranking Manufacturer team. I'm pretty sure Hyundai could equal that.

Gentlemen, F1 is a worldwide sports much like Soccer/Futbol. But Nascar is a totally US sport, what race series do you have in your countries that can match the popularity and financials of Nascar that is based solely in your country?

It's football not futbol.

Well what western country has 300 million people, (amongst witch plenty of rednecks) ?!

But on a proportional level raported to the population, NASCAR is actually an average motor-sport
based on audience, compared to the F1 crazyness in, say Italy.

Again, Dickoneforce, is there a race series in Italy that is solely based in Italy that has the same popularity or financial impact that Nascar has in the US and it can be a proportional average based on population. Also, in the Latin countries it is spelled Futbol.

First, my point was that NASCAR is an average motor-sport by audience. Italians/europeans are simply not that isolated. Every major motor-sport crosses borders, and that's happened since the late 19 century, because european countries are too small amongs other things. F1, WRC, WTCC, DTM are all multinational/international.

Second, we're talking in english here, so it's football, and you're wrong.

Latin countries speak the following languages: spanish , portugese, italian, french and romanian (and there would also be the almost extinguished retro-roman)

Now the spanish call it fútbol, french football, italians calcio and so on.

Third, mind your languange please.
---------------------------
Now back on topic, I wonder what they'll do ?!

They will embezzle money from their country and investors to finance this venture, so all is well.

Than you should check the Champions League finals in 2005 and 2006, and the 2003 Real Madrid - M. United matches.

We'll see after that you still belive it's boring.
