Hyundai starts accepting orders for its first hybrid model

The South Korean carmaker Hyundai has officially began accepting orders for it very first hybrid model dubbed the Elantra LPI HEV, ahead of the car’s July 8 release.
It is considered as the first hybrid electric vehicle to be powered by a Liquefied Petroleum Injected (LPI) powerplant, the Elantra LPI HEV drivetrain includes a 1.6-liter LPG unit, a 15kW and 105Nm electric unit and a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). It is claimed by Hyundai that the carbon dioxide emissions rate of the Elantra LPI HEV is only 99g/km and about 90 percent fewer emissions compared to a corresponding standard gasoline-powered model.
