Toyota and Honda are done. That's the sound of inevitability......just say it....Hyundai. Has a nice ring to it doesn't it?

They were already on the way to being "done", especially Honda since they make too many cars with only SOHC engines instead of DOHC engines. I'm glad the Koreans are competing so well as that will push the Japanese into still better products and the consumer will benefit.

Funny how there are only two of you who think that Honda and Toyota are done. There must be some truth to it...

Heh...

honda, hyundai, toyota, making better cars for everyone... great choices for many markets. everybody wins.

Ford is closer to done, at least in the US. Just think of all those collector worthy ford tempos increasing in value in those barns. Got High Swirl Combustion anyone? Ditto for ChryslerLLC. Gonna miss the HEMI Dart/cuda/aries, and the upcoming remake of the HEMI Sapporo. You know the Sapporo was available with a 2.6 HEMI? No-Leak Gaskets- a Chrysler exclusive.

Everyone can stop pitting Hyundai against Honda and Toyota. In case you were not aware, Toyota is on track to become the #1 automaker in the world. All this Hyundai talk is simply out of spite for Toyota, a common phenom on this site.

GM is struggling to stay ahead of Toyota. Nobody thinks Hyundai can "rule the world" in a year or two or five. Who builds Quality cars that the average person can afford? Who stands on a reputation for reliablity that has not wavered much over 20 years? No haters here. Everything is going to change over 10 years. Who's going to rule the China market? They can be #1. The quest for quality AND market share is respectable, especailly if it can be maintained over time.

ps1982--

i do NOT doubt that hyundai will continue to grow and prosper. but it will take FAR MORE than just 5 years --or even decades-- for them to stamp "done" on the likes of honda and esp. toyota.

GM has been sickly since the 1980s. yet the sheer mass of the company and volume of its production has been such that only now is toyota overtaking them.

i doubt that hyundai is even as large as toyota already was in the 1980s.
