Hyundai to top Toyota in Three Years

Toyota and the other Japanese makers should be VERY afraid of Hyundai. Right now they're offering cars that are cheaper than the Japanese with quality that is on par, if not greater than the Japanese.

lol hyundai is never going to reach that goal they dont have the "best" quality especailly their brakes , hyundai gets on my nerves too much they should make better cars then i might THINK about buying them but not right now IF THERE IS A HYUNDAI WORKER HERE MAKE SURE TO FIX THE BRAKES PROPERLY I GOT IN AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF THE QUALITY

I say 6 years to top Toyota. But, I think Hyundai judges their vehicles too early. They said the Sonata was the safest in it's class, with 6 standard airbags and stabil. control, but when tested by the IIHS, the first test it actually failed, but when retested it earned a good. For side impact, it earned a Acceptable because of the structure/safety cage. So basically, the car could have good equpiment, but that dosen't mean its a good car overall.

Also, the Azera. It looks stunning on the outside, but the interior falls short. Hopefully they fix that in the refresh. Then it's a Avalon-beater.

Toyota and other Japanese should Not be the only worrying. Because if they surpass Toyota and other Japanese manufacture, than they will Target the German next. I think it going to take at another 15 to 20 years before Hyundai going to side by side with other Japanese brand. Remember the bigger your company get the more problem you have, just like GM.

So you German fan should be worry too, because they might come out with a M3, AMG or even an RS4 killer;)

I'm not going to say that Hyundai's aren't getting any better, but it's funny how when they come up with one or two good cars all of the sudden people think that Toyota is going to bet toppled.

Hyundai is no way going to beat Toyota in three years. While their short term reliability is good, their long term reliability sucks. Besides, the Toyota Camry is the #1 selling car in how many years now. It'll be way longer than three years before Hyundai is even close to sale numbers. And, I don't think Hyundai's approach to beating Toyota is a good one. They have a cheap reliable class and a somewhat expensive wannabe luxury class in the same automaker name. They need to at least split like Toyota/Lexus.

By the way, it take Toyota more than 3 years to top the Big Three. So I would think it would take Hyundai more 3 years to top Toyota. Plus Toyota have very loyal customer.

One or two good models?
1. Sonata- Good styling, good power, good value, safety.
2. 2007 Santafe- Good styling, good value, better buy than Highlander, safety.
3. 2007 Elantra-Better than Corolla, good safety, good comfort, safety.
4. Entourage- The minivan to beat. Has gotten great reviews. Thousands less than Sienna or Odyssey.
5. Azera- Stylish alternative to Avalon.
6. Great warranty on all models.

Hyundai?? If it could almost catch up with Toyota, it is the big 3 whom need to worry about it, not Toyota. Hyundai's car still look very unfinished and crapy in some ways.

diablo69, remember this, Toyota is not the only that should be worrying, The Big Three, and the German should be worry too. Because American is a big market for the korean too. And if the Japanese is going to struggle, think what will happen to the Big Three, hopefully they will still be around, LOL;)

So if the Hyundai brand surpass or on the same bar as Japanese brand than it is "Off Better than Any American car?" It does not matter diablo69 because if Japanese brand will not be the only one suffering. The Big Three, and the German brand will suffer as well.

Think of it this way, once they get to the Toyota status, Hyundai will make Mustang killer or even a Viper killer. And than they will go after the German, they will than have to make an M3, RS4 and AMG killer right? right..LOL;) Wow..can't wait to see that happen ;) And it not going to happen for at least another while. Well I have enough of this post.

Funny how you think the Toyota, other Japanese brand and the German is going stay there and let it happen. Yeah right... Japanese brands and the German brand are constantly improving with every new model that come out.

Oh...diablo69, I forget to mention that India and China is joining the auto industry party too. Both of this country will ship their car in the U.S. and around worlds really soon and sale for the price even Hyundai has to be scare off too. Imagine this you can a get a brand car made by an India or China forget which one, for only $2000 I belief.

Quality, that's close, but I doubt it. It depends how many times the South Corean unions decide to go on strike. Look how unions have affected quality in the Big 3. "We think tolerances of 1mm are too hard for our workers, either pay us more or make them 3mm instead"

Also, being a family run company doesn't help either. Too much power and no control will cause them to mess up somehow.

When Hyundai decides to compete w/o using 0%, then they can really compete on merit.

check Edmunds and go to tthe future models index to find the lexus Ls / 7 series / s class/ xj competider even the xj is better then what hyudai is planning oh yeah i forgot the name will be equus hyundai: please dont make the equus for if you sell it for 20 k you wont beat toyota all the car companies will laugh at you and p.s dont compete with the big boys of luxury even the jag xj beats the heck out of your whole entire line up and they dont have an suv :P

How are you comparing a Jaguar XJ to the Hyundai Equus, or any Hyundai?
Also, there are such things as commas, periods, and capital letters.

Come on now!! I doubt it very seriously! First of all, the above mention car company, doesn't not have what it takes to top Toyota within the 3 years or whatever it is. I don't think that copying the designs of other auto makers is going to do you any good, because they can only come up with cars that resemble, either Hondas or Toyotas. Have you guys seen the Hyundai Sonata? Doesn't it kinda look like a Honda Accord? I mean, their list is endless, so that's why I don't consider Hyundai, or Copyunday to top any of the well known automakers; they're not AUTHENTIC, PERIOD!!!!

I think we have been over this before you know: Toyota vs. Hyundai.

Hyundai will not beat Toyota anytime soon. I'd say give them 10 years to get close. Toyota buyers are very loyal and that is because of the reliability of Toyota. Hyundai has proven that it can build quality cars, however their cars still stubled in the recent JD power 3 year survey. Of course cars from this year will better, but Hyundai is still no where close to Toyota's legendary reliability, and yes it is legendary. So first Hyundai needs to get its image up before it can start winning customers from Toyota, and then it can start to take down Toyota. This will take some time, not three years though even if you count from today.

The Sonata and Azera were the two good cars I was referring to. Even at that, the Sonata came out two or three years too late. It would have been a good contender until the Camry was redesigned. The Azera is decent, however sit inside the Avalon and Azera and I think you'd still find that the Avalon has the superior interior/quality fit and finnish.

Otherwise the Santa Fe is all new for 2007 so of course it is better than the Highlander that was launched in 2001. Edmunds compared the new Sante Fe to the new RAV4 and they preffered the RAV4.

Elantra? You must be joking. It was never a class leader or anywhere close. Atleast the Corolla was among the best of econo cars when it first came out. Also the iihs rates the Corolla higher in safety than the Elantra.

Entourage is good, but certainly not the van to beat. That title belongs to the Odyssey. I'm waiting for Toyota to stick their 3.5 liter in the Sienna. Hopefully it will still make around 270 hp. Imagine that 270 hp in a minivan!

it is not about the cars. it is not about the product. here what is in question is the companies. yes, companies sell their products and that is where their revenues come from, but it is many factors such as economic issues surrounding a country (labor cost, trade pacts, etc), financial maximization, administrative issues, etc etc. that really account for the rapid growth of a company. not merely how fast the car goes, or how it looks.

Toyota should not worry about the Koreans atleast for the another 6-7 years.There is still a huge margin between them.
But i think the big 3 of both US and Germany should worry the most,because Toyota is catching them like fire.

What Germans? The only even remote Toyota competitor from Germany is Volkswagen, and their cars are just better built, more fun to drive, arguably more stylish and just more upscale, on a purely intangible level. When you sit inside of a well-equipped Volkswagen Passat, you could also be sitting in a base Audi A4. Volkswagen benifits from Audi's interior expertise and design, and the Passat and Jetta (let alone the Phaeton and Touareg) are not exceptions.

Volkswagen is also a higher-quality car than they used to be, and contrary to what most of the Toyota fans think, they're not just sitting there waiting for Toyota to beat them to a pulp. Like most other manufacturers, VW is squeezing more out of every new model. I think the best one to buy is the Rabbit/Golf R32- it offers a beautiful bodykit on an already good-looking car, a fabulous interior for a sub-$30K that nearly matches the A3's, a sweet engine and an unbeatable DSG transmission.

One VW weakness is that they've been bleeding green the last few years. Audi can only keep them afloat for so long.

Personally, I don't find the new VW designs all that great. They also are still a bit overpriced I think. Most ppl would rather save the 2 or 3 thousand dollars and get a better Japanese car, and in that price range, a few thousand dollars is a lot of money (25-30K).

Who knows what will happen. Just remmeber there was a day in this country that people thougth that the Big 3 would never be where they are today. Jap cars were a joke.. now look at it.. What happened to the big 3 is they didn't change with the times and had boring cars, that didn't hold up. Now look at Toyota design. Its boring, just look at the front end of the New Camry. Looks like the whole thing is molded out of a single sheet of plastic. So who knows if Toyota keeps having recalls and people start having problems with Toyota then they might have something to worry about.. But I would say 5yrs or more not 3. Just my thougths.
