If any company can compete with BMW and Lexus it's Infiniti

I completely agree. I like Infiniti. The original Q45 was great. The current M45 is its true successor (they lost their way with the Q45) The FX is excellent. In terms of automotive philosophy, Nissan/Infiniti is much closer to the Europeans than Lexus will ever be. I think they're on the right track.

The old Infinity Q was a better value than Lexus LS. I hope that remains the case with the new Q.

they're going to have their work cut out for them then going up against the brand new LS, still new S-class, and upcoming brand new 7-series. The A8 is due for a redesign soon too isn't it?

Yes, new A8 will probably be at an auto show in 2009; there's another slight refresh for 2008.

hmmm, i wonder how will infiniti do with the "six shooter" lights. that seemed to be one of the things that caught my eye (maybe others). you got a tall order infiniti.

Back in the 1970's it was called the Datsun B210 Hatchback.

They both need redesigns. QX hasn't been holding up against Escalade, GL, LX, Navigator...

Q will be easy. Target the 7 Series but add luxury at the same time, like the A8.

The Q, as well as all other Infinitis need a 6 sp. auto trans. The cars would be more refined and get better mileage which they sorely need. The day the current Q came out I knew it would be a sales failure. The G looked good and was a smash hit. Why don't they just deep-six the Q and let the M be the top of the line?

Because the M is a 5 Series competitor. They need a flagship to be taken seriously.

They should keep the name 'Q45' and keept the motor's displacement true to the title. How about a twin turbo 4.5 liter V8 with 500 horses. That would be the key for the new Q45 to be successful: give people what they want, like a car similar in size to the 7 series, but packing a 500 bhp motor like the M5, and priced like a loaded 545i. That car would sell. It would be the M7 that BMW never built, at a reasonable (for this class) price point.

No one gives a crap. A complete failure for nearly 20 years. Nissan cannot compete at this level.
lol, 2010 or 2011. WHO CARES. lmao

Skip right to the 5.6 liter (atleast 400hp) with proper carlike power curve and bring the transmission into this century and they have a potential winner. Q55 anyone?

Which will price it near or at LS price. The LS has had this market sealed up since 92 when Infiniti put that ugly grill on the Q and started detuning the motor. I wish the Q all the luck in the world but I don't see it happening anytime soon.

Great the return of the Japanese Buick, you people are crazy to think this will compete with the LS, the car that killed the Q in the first place.

The infinti marketing killed the Q. How about ads for years that never showed the initial car which was beautiful not to mention had 278hp in 1990. Buick is much more appropriate for lexus in dynamics (no disrespect) Infinti believe it or not was target to the BMW crowd. I do have to thank them for pushing the Germans because in 1990 a 5 series was 10k more with a 220hp inline 6. The pressure from the Q and LS led to resurgence of the german hp war.
