Infiniti copying Lexus by launching luxury hybrids
Nissan will be mimicking Toyota and its premium Lexus division by focusing on the luxury end of its product line for hybrid drivetrains. Product planners will use the Infiniti brand to debut Nissan’s own advanced hybrid technology, which engineers are still developing. Nissan already sells a hybrid model in the form of the Altima Hybrid but the powertrain technology for that car was supplied by Toyota.

The news comes from Nissan’s executive vice president for global product planning Carlos Tavares, who also revealed that Nissan will be selling pure-electric cars by the end of the decade. Read Article

no dumbass, in 20 years, we'll hopefully not be using fuel so we can protect a little something called the environment.hybrid's still have emissions

Toyota's making money by selling hybrid technology to other mfg's.If everyone starts selling them the prices will begin to fall.

Weren't Mercedes and Porsche going to start luxury hybrids too? I haven't heard any more about that for a while.

lexusis350, MB and Porsche did jump on the bandwagon copying Lexus but run into technical problem. I guess they find out hybrid symstem NOT as easy as they think.

By the time all the other come out with hybrid Lexus and Toyota will come out with something much better.
