very interesting, I'll be waiting for this car. I've been waiting for the 50 mpg BMW 520d. I'd be willing to give up a M5 type car for a efficient diesel for patriotic reasons: so that my money goes to local farmers when I run it on biodiesel, instead of venezuela, russia or middle east for oil, and of course protecting the environment in my country, the air my children breathe.

But if Infiniti can make a zero emission alternative fuel car that is fast and reasonably priced, I'd pretty much have to buy it on the spot. Not many other options in that field.

Well in that case your electric vehicle will most likely be charged by the same oil that you have wanted to avoid all along and we are frankly no better off now then we were before this whole mess. This whole electric concept is simply moving the problem from the roads to the power plants that will need to produce more it and I don't think their are "cleaner" than cars. So good luck with pure air theory.

Like I've said before, automakers can benefit the images of their vehicles greatly by making the sport modes really mean something, especially the electric vehicles that some would prefer immediate acceleration when bored and smooth acceleration when some just aren't in the mood. But wow... the exhaustion of the drivetrain would be a huge problem. Revolutionary cooling systems for sure.

a lot of the retrograde motorheads here think electric cars are merely oversized golf carts.

read the test drive of the Tesla in last month's Automobile Magazine.

it's both quiet, and a SLEEPER sportster that will embarass any musclecar. AND sportscar.

granted, the Tesla does have the advantage of having a lotus elise platform. but the fact remains, electrics CAN be sporty and FAST. the only limitation is range. but that will only increase over time. the tesla already has a 100+ mile range.

i suspect Infiniti believes anything a pipsqueek start up like Tesla can do, they can do better! it they actually can, it will truly revolutionize the auto business.
