Infiniti to add ‘10 or so’ models to its lineup by 2010
According to Carlos Tavares, Nissan’s global product boss, Infiniti will add a lineup “10 or so models” within the next decade. In an interview with Automotive News, Tavares said that additions to the current lineup haven’t been decided but we can expect crossovers, a sports-oriented car, a high-end car.

Infiniti has kept their product line primarily in the U.S. The company now hopes that adding new models to its existing lineup will help it expand into markets such as South Korea and Russia.

Thats quite a few models within the next 3 years.

"Infiniti also hopes to add a car than is smaller than the ‘G’ model"

Possibly a 1-series competitor then, interesting.

I guess they would cram the VQ35 under the hood? Article mentions the 2.5 4 cylinder, but, to compete with the 1-series it will need to be quick...

smaller than the g? you mean they plan on offering a rebadged altima? perhaps rebadge the entire nissan line?

No way a 2.5 I4. Should be the VQ25 HR- 2.5 V6 used in 250GT.

A smaller car makes sense for INFINITI from the point view of size, as G35 is only 1 cubic ft smaller than BMW 5 series. Therefore INFINITI can definitely use a smaller car at the size of 3 serires. However, it doesn't make sense from the point of view of price, since G35 is already cheap enough, if not mentioning ACURA.

No matter what, I wish there's an INIFITI version of Z370. That'll be perfect.

Something better than the G?! Gotta see it to believe it! But definitely ready for it- please, for the love of God please don't be an infiniti 'small' car!

"Although many planners feel that the fast and brutal power of the GT-R isn’t suited for Infiniti."

Interesting...I think it would be awesome.

And if they do have a small car, it needs be executed much much better than the G20 - which was a great little car, just not a 'premium' one.

I feel confident that these so-called 'new' models will primarily be variations/editions of existing Infiniti vehicles...

NOT completely new models at all.

He's not bashing, he's just being honest. It would be absolutely ridiculous to produce ten fully new model lines, market them and get them to market in three years.

I know I'm alone in saying this, but Infiniti needs a G27 in addition to the G35. In today's world of less oil supplies the G35 is a gas hog. They need a model to compete with the Lexus IS250 which is a peppy auto, just not explosive like the IS350 (or the G35).
Also, why bring out a new Q? The M should be the top sedan for them. They'll never beat out the LS460 anyway.

What they should do is bring out the VQ25 v6 in whatever 1 series competitor they build. The VQ25 engine is in the JDM Skyline (US G35) and it was reported that they achieved up to 35mpg with a 222hp engine. That would be a serious TSX/IS250/ and possibly Bim 1 series competitor. As for the other cars, I can't wait to see them. 5 that i can think of are: New Q sedan, New QX56, Crossover based on the Marano, GT-R equivalent, and the new small sedan.

That's what they are doing already. Remember the new EX which is based on G pltform? You can easily get a new line using shorten chassis and shared parts. With the aid of computer today I think it's totally possible to add 10 models.

QX56? Forget it. I never really see how that fit into INIFINITI's core image. A luxury version of GT-R, G37 convertible, and a luxury version of Z370 are what they really need.

The LS is a more technologically sophisticated car than Bentley or Rolls Royce. I am surprised shoppers don't compare the two. The LS is easily better than Maybach, Rolls or Bentley combined.

Notice how the article says "within the next decade," NOT "by 2010." So, the title is incorrect.

Like I said, it would be nearly impossible to get ten completely new vehicles on the market in three years. Ghosn is saying they'll be out by 2017, which is more feasible.

Anyway, I agree with the idea that it will not be ten completely new cars- it will be a handful of new ones, but also additions to existing lineups.

The new Q will be a very important coming out party for them, Infiniti knows how this car is recieved paves the way for them as a true luxury line from top to bottom. I bet the new Q will be a new standard for the industry.
