Interior spy pictures of the next-generation BMW 5-series
These are new pictures of the next-generation BMW 5-series sedan. The heavy body disguise hides a lot of the feature which the car will have from the outside, but the inside pictures do give us a slight idea what the cabin will look like. Read Article

As with the current 7 and 5 Series, the next generation 5 interior looks like it will be a somewhat modified version of the new 7. The mid-dash hump in this spy shot is a fake (the 7 disguise had the same thing); the final product will probably have the iDrive screen flush with the top of the dash. It does appear that BMW is returning to dashboards slightly more angled towards the driver.

The interior will be nice but I hope they don't screw up the exterior design like the new 7 Series.

BMW really needs to shape up when it comes to interiors because none of them feel remotely expensive or special. I have sat in almost BMWs and I was just appalled at the poor workmanship and quality impression they left on me. Such terrible construction and design would never be allowed at Lexus for example, which is hands down the industry leader when it comes to interiors.

The worst BMW interiors are the 1 series coupe and 3 series and the 5 series too. They just feel and look cheap and the design is nothing special. I feel like I am sitting inside a 1980s Kia. And for the cash you spend on a BMW you'd at least expect quality interiors.

Their interiors may not be the best looking but they're not "cheap". It doesn't look high quality but when you feel the dash it feels solid. The ride is second to none. I can't speak for the 1 series but the 3 series all the way up to the 7 series have superb ride comfort. It's not as soft as a Merc but road noise is at it's minimal, what I look for in a luxury car.

Audi is the industry leader when it comes to interiors not Lexus. It may be in your eyes though but Mercedes & Audi are the top for me. I've owned the last 3 generations of S-Classes they have always been solid but none is better than the my 550. My Lexus is great too but it's a different type of luxury. It's not an elegant place to be like my Merc but a safe and boring type of place to be. It's great though I love it.

If you owned a 5 series car, you would feel differently; I too would like to see some changes to the E60, but the seats in my 550i are still better than any other seats I've sat in.

I'm sorry if I'm offending any BMW fans, but I dont think BMW's next-gen 5 Series will hold a candle to the nex-gen E-class or A6. I think BMW has lost its touch in the design department, in general.

Don't forget the Lexus GS. A great interior.

I love the Lexus GS but it's not a class leading interior. It's not the best fit and finish for that price range. The E Class and the A6 are by far the best in it's class.

I disagree. The GS and ES have the best interiors.

I really like the interior. I've always liked BMW interiors. I know that's one area they are heavily critiqued on, but I like them.

the 5 series IS and WILL be the benchmark in this segment. Much like the 1, 3, X and now 7 series. Not he mention the M cars which have no equal. But i do enjoy these ridiculous posts from people who drive Jeeps and Camrys.. hahah .

My point exactly - BMW should make a good interior (it should LOOK AS GOOD as it "feels") and more ppl will buy their stuff.
