Boost it!

It's pretty much a foregone conclusion that nav systems on devices like the iPhone will eventually spell the deathnell for the Garmins and Tom Tom's of the world being in the hardware business.

I see their only play is as software providers for the hardware from Apple and others.

But if Nav on the iPhone is going to be a subscription service like AT&T is hawking, I think it will take longer to catch on in the marketplace.

My opinion is that AT&T should charge a one time app fee of say $29.99 and then a $9.99 renewal every year thereafter.

What are your thoughts?

Is a perpetual monthly fee of $9.99 too much and is AT&T making a mistake and missing an even larger potential market of customers?
