Is THIS What The New Audi A5 SHOULD Have Looked Like?
No doubt the new A5 is a hit with most of the hardcore fans. But is the new Citroen C-Airscape a better rendition of the theme?

Overall in our opinion the design is much cleaner and far more integrated than even the upcoming A4. Maybe Audi stylist need to take a peek over Citroen's shoulder a bit more next time!

Check out the shots below and tell us which is better looking the new A5 or the C-Airscape!

The Airscape is a beautiful car no doubt, but perhaps you forget this is a concept. I doubt the car produced will be as elegant. In the future i would not compare a concept to a production car. Its not fare. The A5 is unmistakably Audi, and itself is a sexy modern design. I think it turned out great.

"FRONT-WHEEL DRIVE KILLED THE SPORTS CAR" How can Audi be compared to BMW when it sells V8 front-wheel drive sports cars!

Audi doesn't sell any front wheel drive V8 powered cars in the US.

It doesn't sell any anywhere, all V8s are quattro equipped.

This Citroen is a better match for Hyundai, the rear lights are too cartoonish for a classy car such as Audi. They make it look flashy and shiny at the show but I'm sure the production version will look uglier and the bad dimensional proportions will be more noticeable. Sorry, but the Audi is in a design class way above this cartoon car.

But, the Audi is European?

The Solara is a 2 door boring Camry.

I guess this proves the notion that reasonable men will disagree on matters of taste and style. I think the Solara coupe looks horrible, like it was cobbled together from different cars. As for the other two (both of which will be out of my price range, so, well....), to me the Citroen looks chunky, where the A5 looks taught and athletic.

Solora and elegence, do not belong in the same sentence.

the roof line of the citroen looks a little to much like the volvo c70 to me... however the A5 is a pure German coupe with great balance and proportion... as for a solara coupe, well it is still a tubby front wheel drive hulk...

Not only A5 but the new A4 is also very average looking.

They should have looked more sharp and revolutionary.

See the A4e Concept article. It gives a real picture of the front view, and it is easy to gather that it will look much better in person than in Audi's press shots. They have used terribly bland press photos for every model- even the R8.

please go away and never come back, houstoncutie.

at 3600 llbs with around 270 hp, the 07 camry does a 1/4 mile in 14.3 seconds.

at 3600 llbs with only 225 hp, the 05 e46 330i sedan does a 1/4 in around 14.3 seconds with the 325 at 14.7-8 with 198 hp.

at roughly 3700 llbs with 300 hp, the 07 e90 335i sedan does a 1/4 in around 13.5 roughly the same as the e46 m3.

the new camry is cant even beat the last gen 3 series in speed or handling.

take your bs elsewhere.

"The engine tweaks don't add up to much—the redline goes up 300 rpm to 6800, peak horsepower goes up 10 to 235, and torque goes up eight pound-feet to 222. But a little more thrust and shorter gearing do pay off at the track. Our Performance-package 330i sprinted to 60 mph in 5.6 seconds and covered the quarter-mile in 14.3 seconds at 97 mph."

new 335i:

"Paired with the standard six-speed transmission, this is sufficient to propel the 3616-pound 335i to 60 mph in 4.8 seconds, with essentially no turbo lag—the tiny hesitation between the time the driver punches the throttle and the onset of full boost. That’s a tenth quicker to 60 mph than was the slightly lighter 335i coupe, an advantage the sedan held through the quarter-mile (13.5 seconds at 106 mph)."

When I was a proud owner of my 86 Camaro, then 86 Prelude Si, i did not have much money. I loved cars but did not understand why German owners were so passionate about their cars. Because i did not know, and i could not afford, i hated them. WHY oh why would some moron spend so much money on a (then ugly) BMW or Mercedes, when you could get such a better car from Toyota or Honda? You hate what you dont know and what you cant afford. If any reasonable person would test all cars they make comments about im sure half of what they say would be mute. The difference is sophistication. If i have money im gonna buy a BMW, why? Ever hear you get what you pay for? Much like fine wine, fine food, fine clothes. Dont hate cause you cant afford. Also Toyota, Honda, Lexus, they all make excellent cars. It all boils down to what are you looking for and what can you afford. So dont hate.

Please, this is supposed to be a car enthusiast site, commenting on the specifics about Articles. Ie. the citreo looks a little to over the top for their marquee. This car is trying to over do it, when it shouldn't. This car is nowhere near the refined touch of the A5 the Sport coupe, in terms of interior materials options, wood inlays, alcantra leather, silk nappa standard. The face is much sleeker on the A5 than this citreon. Citreon would never mass produce this model. Audi has the years of designing perfection and quality product management over Citreon.

You definately get what you pay for with a prestigious auto car...

Why are we saying "should have looked like"? We should have that discussion if the car was already out and did not do well in the market. Despite, I've seen the S5 and A5 in person and they look great - better than in pictures, I think the A5/S5 will be great sellers.

BAD JOKE guys... I sometimes think the owners of this site are those guys because they stir discussion/readership...

Imo the audi looks more elegant overall and it has nicer lines. But this is definatly a very nice vehicle. It should sell alot if the production model came close to this.

And people, dont reply to houston and david989, just ignore them and they will go away.

The A5 is better looking than the Airscape because Audi has moved the front axle toward the front about 6" which gives it that RWD look. The Citroen design is pure FWD...not good.

A definitive NO.

That is an unflattering press picture, but the A5 will be dazzling on the road. Classic, gorgeous coupe proportions with a dash of Audi elegance.

As many others have stated, it's just strange to compare a French show car to a German sports coupe.

Let me join the chorus of dissenters, Agent009. Many members have said that it is unfair to compare a concept car to a production model. Besides, the photos of the Citroen are not shot at the same angle as the Audi photos. One can see the front and right front corner of the Audi, but not the Citroen. One has several views of the Citroen's hindquarters, but that is not the case with the Audi. Best wait until the C-Airscape is in production (if ever) before comparing it to anything else.
