Is The Altima Coupe An Entry G35?
Even though front-wheel-drive coupes aren't big sellers, Nissan took the financial risk to develop a sleek, two-door version of the redesigned 2008 Altima sedan and came up with a terrific mainstream coupe.

Its stylish silhouette rivals the beauty of Nissan's Infiniti G35 luxury coupe. That might annoy those who paid twice as much for the Infiniti, but surely will appeal to those who want much of the G's visual cachet for considerably less money.

Good point- basically the same car as the Infiniti at half the price.

Are you kidding me? The platform is completely different! And Altima looks like A$$ compared to the G Coupe.

actually its not the same car. nowhere close. the resemblance is at most skin deep. beyond that, you're looking at two fundamentally different cars...starting with two completely different platforms....

ANSWER: Yes.
And the Armada is an entry level QX56, and the Murano an entry level FX35.

No

You answered the question in your first sentence, 009. It's FWD. Dont you know the difference?

Let's try one just like it:

The volkswagen Eos is an audi TT, no wait, an audi S5.

Now, the 350Z acutally IS the same platform is the G. The altima only has similarly-inspired sheetmetal. Therefore, shouldnt you have started by comparing it to the Z?! Where you high when you wrote this 009?!

If anything, the 350Z would be the grandfather because that's what the others are originally based on.

S4cabriofoxone,

actually they're all based on the G35 sedan...which was the first with the FM platform. It was shown in prototype form as the Infiniti XVL in Jan 2000.

Too bad it's slower than the Accord Coupe. Honda's counterpart is better looking and probaly handles quite a bit better since Honda do build the best handling FWD vehicle available. Not to mention better reliability, build quality, resale value, and interior styling.

Actually-The new Accord Coupe that is coming out has less handling prowess then the previous version. Honda has gone more for refinement. In addition it's huge. That alone takes away the concept of a nimble sporty coupe. I'm not saying that the Altima Coupe is a sports car but I think it's more sporty looking then the Accord coupe. In a 6 speed it does not drive to badly. In fact Road and Track rate it more highly then a V6 Eclipse.

I would think that VW and Audi would have something to say about that...

I love Honda, but no other FWD car can match the A3 2.0T with DSG.

Two different platform but good marketing by nissan. If you aint got the dough the nissan coupe is more bang for the bucks.

It's really a nice looking coupe for the money. Anybody who can afford the G37, will get the G37. I think that's the point- Good Market planning by Nissan.

They don't perform the same but they do look related. There are more similarities between these two cars than the roof line. The basic VQ block and the 350Z inspired forged aluminium suspension parts,Aluminium hood and some electronic features in the car.The altima is not a G35 coupe killer but it does make a good and more affordable alternative to the G35.

The Altima Coupe is actually quite unattractive. There's an element of blandness that just turns me off. I'd rather have the better-looking sedan.

In any event, the G37 is a much better-performing, better-looking vehicle that easily justifies its price.

And I was de-boosted, for saying I like the sedan and G37 better? Interesting. I just don't like the coupe. The rear end doesn't work.

Research people, research. The g35 coupe has always shared a chassis and everything else w/ the 350z, not the altima. Funny, the picture doesn't look that good, but i saw one this morning, and it looks much better in person.

I disagree. I have also seen it on the road, and the rear flanks are too wide, the light clusters are too big and it looks cheap next to the new Accord Coupe. Give me the good-looking Altima sedan, or better yet, a G37.
