If you've been listening, viewing or reading all the BS hype that today's GM bankruptcy will end up turning them around and BELIEVING it, then I have a Madoff-like scheme I'd like to sell you.
Let us De-Bunk what REALLY will happen for you going forward.
1. The Volt may NEVER make it to market and if it does it will be a MASSIVE failure. Too many other good products out there like the Prius for much less money and a better history of reliability. DUMP IT NOW. DON'T WASTE ANOTHER CENT ON IT.
2. Americans LOVE winners. NO market influencers or taste makers will buy ANYTHING GM makes for a long time to come, if ever. The stigma of 'Government Motors' will haunt them and nix ANY marketing or ad scheme they can come up with. It will be a PR persons nightmare. And there won't be enough of the potential customers of their cars with money because they are this wars collateral damage. Today a car purchase more than ever, is a statement of who we are and a reward to ourselves. Nobody wants to bring a new car home and have the neighbor say, isn't that the same car the highway department uses?
3. These will be the winners of this bailout/bankruptcy/debacle. Toyota, Honda, Hyundai, Kia and Ford. The vacuum is on and I already hear the sucking sound. And Ford quietly announce a 10% increase in production today. Good for them, they EARNED it. More former GM customer conquests coming soon, stay tuned.
Within two years this will be looked at as Obama's Iraq and as the DUMBEST business move in the history of the world.
Like we said before this happened...They should have let the chips fall where they would and let them sink or swim on their own.
If it were me, that's what I would have done.
But I would have taken a small percentage of the money they wasted (YES, there is NO doubt our government WASTED all that money and it's a SIN) and divided it up to the seniors who lost their pensions and as bridge unemeployment money to help the people who lost the jobs, transition to other jobs in areas of the country where the economy is still reasonably strong.
