Is This The Ultimate Detail Job Or What?
The car is 6 months old, finished in pearlescent Balloon White and in my opinion is probably the nicest colour that the Gallardo comes in

This was to be a rather special week at work too, as this was the first Ne Plus Ultra (TM) hyper-detail to be done for a customer. This is a new service option we are offering to supercar owners throughout Scotland who want their vehicles to receive a detail that achieves as close to perfection as physically possible (without replacing any parts or adding paint) and leaves no surface untouched. No time limit is set for this service; it simply takes as long as it takes, over a minimum of 7 days (to allow enough time for multiple bespoke premium carnauba wax coats to fully cure). Full details will shortly be added to the detailing services section of the website.

So, on with the detail...

The newer ones yes. But you still have to be careful of the electronics.

If you're using a high powered water hose then be careful of electronics which can get damaged. But otherwise, yes, you can wash your engine.

I would never wash an engine with water unless it was specifically designed for it. Maybe in the future one simply has to spray on some dirt-eating nanobots, leave it overnight, and drive off in the morning with a shiny new-looking machine.

Well, you would think that you could get the same type of detailing from a dealer who is prepping the car for delivery no?

Or is this better than showroom finish?

WOW, great read and write-up! And I thought the level of detailing I give my cars was extensive...that was just insane (but probably cost the owner an untold amount of $$...no object to him/her, I'm sure).

Again, a thoroughly enjoyable read!

I'm proud of myself after a 3 hour job on my Volvo! This took a week with a full working day per. If this guy isn't OCD, he must have the patience of a saint!

I'd love to see what he could do to a ten year old car.

All that, and he didn't even take off the wheels to detail the wheel wells and brake calipers? Obviously he does great work on paint, but for "ultimate" check out the dedication of people over at Autopia when prepping for concours. They take the car apart to detail, which is actually the only way to really do it.

It was a 1,000 mile old car. I do not think you need to take it apart!!
