Is This What The Facelifted 2009 Lexus IS Will Look Like?
New my.IS member
nyjinwoo
, in his very first post, found a link to an Asian website (it is unclear to this author whether it's Japanese or South Korean) that contains multiple artist's renderings of what the facelifted '09 Lexus IS will look like and posted this on a 2nd-Gen IS250/IS350 General Discussion Forum thread.
The front end shot (which appears at the top of our story) shows that the grille, while maintaining the vertical bar motif, has fewer, thicker and more spread-out bars.
The most obvious exterior change shown in these illustrations is to the taillight inserts (see picture at right), with much-enlarged back-up lights which, in the right-side taillight, echo the shape of the "L" portion of the Lexus logo and, for the left-side taillight, wind up looking like a flopped mirror-image of this.

I'm so glad they got the Orange out of the tail lights... but it's pretty radical.
Hopefully they will look great in real life.
THANK GOD THEY GOT RID OF DESERT SAGE... if only they would get rid of Glacier Frost...

i'd have to disagree with you on the GFM color
glacier frost mica is a unique color and probably one of the better paints on a vehicle currently.
Lexus does produce some of the better color available as well, as well as finishes.

I think Glacier frost is an unnecessary color. It is too close to Starfire Pearl and Tungsten Pearl.
If they are going to do an off-white, they need to bring back Parchment.
I've also noticed there are like NO Breakwater Blue cars in development... I wonder if it is a sign that they are going to drop that color as well.

Be sure to visit the nearest optometrist very soon, if you think that twinkie is better looking than this car.

I don't see many changes here. Taillights are the same shape but just a different under the lens design. Side view mirrors have turn signals in them now A-La Lexus GS facelift. Rear head rests that lay forward for better rear visibility when seat is not occupied??? And a different front bumper???

I know the front end is being updated on the regular IS lineup. I've also heard the Instrument cluster is slightly diffrent.

Actually, you have that backwards...
Lexus is the vehicle of choice for academics, artists, architects, doctors, scientists etc,
BMW is for bankers, lawyers, sales men, pimps, pushers, porn producers and fiffttty cent.
or more simply:
Lexus = light side of the force
BMW = dark side aka the "Empire"

Oh please.
In all of my 5 and a half years in college I remember one professor having a Lexus-it was an LS, he was Russian, and the head of the mechanical engineering department...I think. Having said that I don't remember any professors having BMWs.
There were a lot of Volvos and Audis driven by professors- it's Colorado there are practical considerations.

I usually get a laugh out of EL34's comments, but this one was just stupid. No gangbanger would be seen driving an IS.

The IS is as much of a Corolla as a 3-Series is to a Mini-Cooper... not even comparable in size or class.

Actually I would have to agree with 204E60! tail lights do resemble Corolla ones.
But rest of tha car is average.

EL34:
You should be happy gangbangers (and other poor folk) aren't driving prestigious brands like BMW or Mercedes because then they would just be bringing down the value of the cars just like they with home purchases back in the 70's or 80's. Remember? Back then (and even today) real estate agents would not want to sell homes in certain neighborhoods to these so called gangbangers/poor folk/lawnmower people, etc.)cause of fear that homes would lose their value. Can't you just let us enjoy our Toyotas? Pretty Please?

Both are never going to happen.
The gas mileage is too good in the IS250.
And the production cost to build such a limited production IS350 manual probably wouldn't benefit.
MAYBE, on the Coupe/Convertible... but that's a BIG maybe.

I don't care about BMW, you tool. You can choke in your own saliva while cursing BMW, I don't give a damn, but make sure that you don't make this personal and more, make sure that you never involve other people's families in your demented rants. Keep your b***s**t related exclusively to cars.

I dont get it: what is so special and/or thrilling about IS? I see them on the road, they just blend in with traffic.
Also, I don't really see what's different on these pictures from current model?

The IS really a great value. You get a lot of standard luxuries features at a very reasonable price. The IS could be a basis for what a true entry level Luxury sedan is.
On the flipside, it is outperformed and out classes as far as driving dynamics by the Germans.
The Second Gen IS was a great improvement over the original model.

i honestly don't know how anyone takes MichaelTaylor serious, every single post he does no matter what the title of the article is he relates it to Lexus being the greatest car...he either works for a Lexus company, corporate or Lexus car dealer...no one would say this stuff even if they are a Lexus owner..."Put an IS next to say a Bugatti Veyron..." people would look at a IS before that comon that is straight nonsense

Lexus only needs a couple hundred thousand heads to turn, and they get them every year,so you need not apply.

Not much difference. I was originally considering upgrading from a Maxima SE to an IS250 6-speed, but I test drove one. I liked the car (and loved the interior), but was disappointed at the power from the V6 for 30 something large. The IS350 powerplant is awesome, but what the IS250 needs is about 30 more hp.

"Put an IS next to say a Bugatti Veyron or a Nissan GT-R and guess which car will turn heads? The IS. Enough said."
PUAHAHA!!
An car with Toyota bits in it compared to a Bugatti Veyron. Forget the GT-R or the IS, it will never have the presentation of a Veyron, lets be real here.

correction: A car rather than An car.
Anyways MT is a troll.
"Wrong. Lexus L-Finesse design was created to turn heads. One of the most widely acclaimed and praised designs in recent years is the L-Finesse program. BMW can go take a hike."
- L-Finesse seems to be very feminine, like yourself. Women drive the IS & RX quite a bit where I live. We all know that you love men, you said it yourself a couple months ago. I'm not making fun of you, just reminding others what you said. :)
Lastly, don't be so immature and bring up someone's "MOM". It seems like you're the turd around here. The household troll is what you are.

Isn't L-Finesse a cheap shampoo and conditioner you buy at Wal-Mart?
I think my mom used that back in the 60's before the Breck Girl took over the market.
