Is This an Uncloaked 2008 Honda Accord?
Say hello to the first naked shots of the 2008 Honda Accord. Although HoMoCo is still doing long-lead press reviews of the 15-year leader in US sales, Brenda Priddy's spies captured the 2008 Accord just as it stepped out of its fascia-obscuring sports bra and into a photo shoot for a Canadian brochure.

Here's what we know. Obviously, expect the new model to sport some serious frontal design changes.

I love it. Has more than a little 5 series in it.

I cant help but feel Honda has run out of designs and just meshed together a bunch of other brands. I see a little Infiniti, a little Hyndia, and some other stuff. I dont think it looks bad and I am a Honda fan, i guess i am just a bit surprised.

Dude...I hate to admit it but I agree with you. I see some Camry, some 5 series, some Altima and even a little Saturn Aura thrown in around the tailights. It looks good and they're gonna sell a boat load of them but it is a bunch of different designs all mashed up into one.

Yeah, the Sonata copies the current pre-facelift Accord, and this one returned the favor.

+1 BoostDrop the Boost Up the Boost
Yes, that is exactly what I thought. The head lights and the tail lights definitely remind of a Sonata. Also I think it kind of resembles the 5 series as well.

For what purpose this car serves, it will do well. After several months, Honda will own these styling ques, and most people will think the other vehicles are copies.

Not an empressive exterior + ugly interior = bad design. But it will still get sold of course because of what it is, a Honda.

I like the coupe, the sedan looks too much like the other brands mentioned. But since its a Honda it'll still sell great.

I hate to admit this but the current Accord that I hate so much because it looks like the back was choped off, looks better than this. I just hope Acura has no part in this when designing the next Acura TL.

well, i agree with tht too, but the current one is my favorite accords of all, as well as our 89 accord with the flip-up lites. but the current one is the best looking IMHO, to me the back certainly looks nice w/ those LED lites, tht makes the accord well put.

Talk about over-styled!

Such a heavy-handed approach does this new Accord no favours, in fact it reminds me of those cardboard cars you make up yourself, akward and disproportional.

It looks quite ugly, put simply.

from the profile its a total 5 series clone. say waht you will about BMW design, atleast they have some sort of design language. it's like the first time i saw the scion tC, a total mash up of every popular car.

Not very distinct nor fully integrated, but the interior will probably be much nicer than the Camry. Accord will continue to sell well and have strong residuals.

"why is it EVERY car that uses the so-called Hofmeister kink now "looks like a 5-series?" it's not as if bmw INVENTED that c-pillar design. it existed in toyota coupes of the early 1970s."

Because BMW was using it in the sixties.

The car is a total BMW rip-off. They might as well sell "M" badges in the parts department.

Looks good but will it have a DOHC engine or will Honda try to save money again with a SOHC? I'm waiting to see if Honda has come up with a comfy interior for this car.

The rear end on the coupe from a glance reminds me of the Toyota Solara rear.

Nose is definately Honda/Acura. As for the tail, Hyundai is going to be pissed that Honda took their design back.

Being a longtime Honda fan (I've owned 9), I am very disappointed in the sedan. It looks too much like a recycled Acura RL mixed up with a Saturn Aura. The coupe, I like a lot. Too bad it reminds me of the Solara. I had a 2003 Accord V6 coupe and I loved that car. I plan to test drive the 2008 V6 coupe the day its available and buy either a leftover 2007 V6 coupe or the new 2008. It all depends on the interior and the inevitable new features.

Let's get things straight:

Honda didn't copy Hyundai - take a look at the 1998-2002 Accord - Hyundai Sonata ripped off the Accord big time! Tail lights especially.

Technically, if you looked hard enough at any car you could find traces of any other car... Tail lights come in 4 shapes, circluar, square, rectangular, oval - headlight, taillight, sidemarkers have to be a certain colour to follow transportation guidelines.

Honda, and the Accord in particular, have a good thing going - they don't need to be radical and come out with earth shattering designs to wow consumers. I'd say this design is quite tame and they'll sell a sh!tload.
