Is there hidden meaning in this Lexus IS-F licence plate?
Here's a treat for all you conspiracy theorists.
In the words of Rod Serling from the Twilight Zone...
Submitted for your approval:
One of our observant readers commented in one of our blogs, that there could be hidden meaning in the license plate, on this silver Lexus IS-F.
The theory he proposes is that the 435 number on the plate, could be subliminally revealing the official USA horsepower rating.
Is it farfetched or could he be on to something?
Don't forget, the SEMA auto show is right around the corner!

I noticed this when the new website was launched earlier this week and the first thing that came to my mind was 435hp. I think it must have some meaning, unless they have a group of people sitting in a room just think of ways to BS the public.

If the JDM IS-F is getting 423HP then there is no chance that the US version will get more. JDM cars always have more HP than US versions because the 100 octane fuele.

What the hell...hasn't it already been determined that it will have 317 hp. It was all over Autospies yesterday.

Lexus took the time to put something other than "IS-F" on the plate, so it may have some meaning. Is it HP? I do not know. But with the hype and speculation surrounding this cars power figures, you have to consider this may be a hint.

STOP IT WITH THESE IS-F THREADS! FOR THE SAKE OF MANKIND, STOP!
As if the nearly 300 posts in the IS-F thread isn't enough, now we need another flamewar.

What WE want, nicad. I'm sick of these threads, as well. It's getting ridiculous- soon, there will be an article saying the IS-F's door handles are black, so they could be made of carbon fiber, so it might be lighter than the M3.

I agree. In case no one has noticed, Lexus is the big seller on this website. If the word "Lexus" is mentioned in the title, at least 100 comments are made. People are only submitting these IS F posts for popularity.

Guess what I just noticed? The top 5 most commented articles all have something to do with a Lexus. Point proven.

435 is surely there to give some hint. It's not just a random number.I hope it's 435BHP.

what's odd is...it's not a Japanese-spec license plate. It's just a random white plate with characters on it. Strange, because german protos have euro-plates on them....

It means "Miracles Can Happen" 435. :)
Meaning, Lexus enters the pit with a big splash for its first entry, much to the chagrin of the Euro Fanboys. Please note that I said “fanboys” and not true Euro Enthusiasts.
Shoot, I would love to have any one of these monsters (C63, M3, RS4, IS-F). They are all beautiful, fast and will handle better than what most of us will ever need it for, let’s be serious guys….
I hope it has at around 435hp, because 407hp sounds lame for that size engine and 417hp "is not enough" of a difference from the M3. As everyone already knows, with the 8-speed and the monster torque (what the current rumor is stating), I think that even with 407-417hp, the trick will be in harnessing the torque via the transmission and gearing. With less horsepower and an acute gearing/transmission setup, it’s quite possible that it could be faster than the C63 in 0-60 mph. Likely? I don’t know…..yet!
We won’t know until these are tested in the real world though, so stop creating the debates (it’s fun to have theories, though) that are ALL based on speculation, so far. How can anyone say that one car is faster or slower than another if they have not been pitted together somewhere other than someone’s imagination.
Let’s be honest guys, no need to flame each other about this or any other car/brand. Some of you take your badge pride too seriously, and some of you are posers, looking for attention, David989 and HoustonCutie2000 on the Lexus side, and some Tools on the other MB/Audi/BMW side. The very fact that there are sides means that most of these fanboys are badge ho’s and not true enthusiasts.
Let me also say: I have never driven a new M3, RS4, C63, or IS-F and am not ashamed to say it!….So I can’t assume with certainty that there is “one car to rule them all”. I will say, though, that the M3 is historically known as the king of the hill, with some fierce competitors nipping at it’s heels.
Bottom Line, this segment is heating up and that’s a good thing, for you, me and any other one in the market to ACTUALLY buy one, not just talk about it…
I want to talk about cars! Not just insult people who have a different take on things!
Can I get an Amen?
Rant: Done.

I can easily change the 435 to 345 if you guys think it's better. Or maybe 555 or whatever number you like. Then post is somewhere on the net for the war to start: oh, I saw a IS-F with 999 hp yesterday, in a picture, it was going so faaaast ...

Lexus ALWAYS understates their 0 - 60 times by at least .5 seconds. Here are the results of the 5 Top Luxury Cars in this test which was reported in the January Issue of Car and Driver. Please note these tests were all done on the same day at about the same time and at the same altitude. The results reflect the average of 3 runs and all cars are the 2007 vintage.
Mercedes S550 5.6, 0 - 60 quarter mile in 14.1 (Benz show 5.4 in their specs)
BMW 750iL 5.7, 0 - 60 quarter mile in 14.2
Jag XJ Super 6.0 0 - 60 quarter mile 14.5
Lexus LS460L 6.2 0 - 60 quarter mile 14.6
Audi A8 6.8 0 - 60 quarter mile 15.2
Note that Lexus, as usual, is more than the 5.4 the manufacturer CLAIMS to get by .8 seconds.
Also note the LS430 (prior model the LS460 replaced) was rated at 295 HP and was actually 278 when Lexus corrected their rating. And there were no refunds or apologies from the so-called "quality" car company. ABC - Always Be Careful what you buy from the (REPREHENSIBLE) Toyota/Lexus people.....
