Is this the new Nissan Silvia/240SX
As brilliant as the new GT-R is, its premium price tag and limited availability means it will be out of reach of most sports car lovers for some time to come. Then there’s the 350Z but it too can be a bit expensive for younger fans. Sadly, Nissan’s affordable sports car, the Silvia (240SX), no longer exists. In fact, Nissan’s image of late has been skewed towards the SUV segment, but this may soon change with speculation there’s a Silvia replacement in the works. Read Article

I am a big nissan fan en the silvia realy needs to return the 350Z, skyline and GTR are perfect but the silvia was always my favorite.

It should have around 250BHP and 2.0L just like the S15 had.

I'm not sure. I don't think NISSAN can afford 2 RWD lines. I'd rather see next Z w/ turbo I4 of 260hp. That's enough fun for beginner.

1. save weight while achieving same output 2. better handling 3. save money without developing new model 4. better product positioning, etc......

Got it now kid?

Looks like the Altima Coupe with different headlight treatment. This car needs to be similar to the Urge in size. It also needs to have the option of front wheel drive/AWD capability.

the silvia was a rwd sports coupe. it needs fwd as much as a ferrari needs fwd.

that's funny. I loved the 240. It had 140 hp but it fast.

It didn't sell well against Celica and Prelude cause it was the only one that was RWD. I understand the need for a drifter car but that is like .001% of the folks at Nissan would like this car to appeal to, my guess. If it comes out as RWD it will sell in very limited quantities and will cannibalize sales from the Z.

but where are the celica and prelude now?

The Altima Coupe is the FWD entry level "sports" car in Nissan's lineup already. A lower cost (under $20k) & small RWD car would be a welcome addition to Nissan's lineup.

The silvia had always been RWD if you want FWD buy the altima coupe.

Having lived in (stationed in) Japan for more than 10 years and owning a wonderful Silvia K's at one time, I also have fond memories of the Nissan Silvia, but...

If Nissan can do no better than the 'dull-as-dirt' rendering presented here, I'd rather they just leave the nameplate a fond memory.

That's all this is, a rendering. Nissan didn't design it.

Actually if you tell that it has a corvette engine in and it's call corvette he love it.

Why would you need this in addition to the Altima Coupe. Seems like they would just be fighting each other within the same dealership. Looks like it would consume more sales of the Altima then outside manufactures.

@jeffgall

You should look beyond the US because the altima coupe isn't sold in Japan or europe. And the silvia is a turbo I4 with RWD the altima is a FWD V6 there is enough difference between those two so they won't compete whit each other.

unfortunately, many american buyers would opt for the altima coupe, as it would offer the style of a 2-door with cheapness and practicality of altima. at this price, the altima coupe could actually canibalize the silvia. shameful.

But the Altima coupe is ugly, so it won't.

The silvia has to be compact, smaller in size than the Altima coupe and have at least a 2+2 configuration and RWD. Maybe a 2.0 liter with a twin scroll turbo, good for about 250HP and keep the weight under 3000 pounds.

Forget the KA, that was a shitty engine. If they come up with a new SR and it comes to the states this car will kill anything in its class.

The pic doesn't seem too credible. It has the exact same curves as the G35Coupe (not G37) and it has the exact same wheels on it. So the only thing that is different is the front. Looks like a job of a good photoshoper who forgot to change the wheels.

Actually, I'd say the nose was borrowed from Alfa, the windshield from SLK and the rear from a '67 Mustang.

For all intents and purposes, the Altima Coupe is its North American 240SX. I can't see Nissan North America bringing an RWD coupe of the overall same size/performance value as the the Altima coupe to cannibalize its own sales. Its just not worth it to their bottom line.
