So far for 2014, it's hard to say that any particular concept car generated as much buzz as the Maserati Alfieri. It's received lots of love from the press and consumers alike. So much so, the company has decided to build it.

Yes, that's for real.

Announced during yesterday's big 'ol Fiatpalooza in Detroit, Maserati has now said it will bring a coupe and a convertible to the market. Said to be coming with a variety of engine choices — 410, 450, 520 and 560+ horsepower — it seems that Maserati is looking to take on the Jaguar F-Type, Mercedes-Benz GT AMG and Porsche 911. Things are heating up in the luxury two-seater space.

Where things get interesting is that Maserati plans to equip the small car with all-wheel drive — 560 horsepower V8 excluded.

The Levante, which we've been waiting for, has been confirmed to show itself in 2015. This could be Maserati's savior product, as previously seen with the Porsche Cayenne's success. We'll be keeping an eye out for this one. According to reports, it's expected to have two motors good for 350 and 425 horsepower, respectively. With the all-new Porsche Macan, Mercedes-Benz MLC, BMW X4 and a slew of others, this is going to be one very interesting battle royale.
