The coachbuilder has struggled to garner any orders and is operating at a loss despite having a presence at recent European auto shows with custom concepts, such as the Bertone Jet 2+2.
Even a sub-division, created to build one-off cars for clients called Bertone Workshop, failed to gain ground. It is now being reported that Bertone has had to furlough 165 of its employees without pay and 10 interns have been permanently let go.
