does anyone KNOW the actual financial status of Tata? as india's largest car company, it's likely substantial.
did anyone in the West know much/anything about toyota before it snuck past gm to beat it in global production?

then again, jaguar did suck hundreds of millions out of ford, starting with the inflated price ford paid to start with. and fiat sucked a billion or two out of gm before the aborted buyout.

Tata has a 78 Billion dollar market cap. 10 Times the size of Ford. They had enough cash on hand last year to pay 12 Billion for British Steel (now Corus) and then turn around and buy Daewoo and Jaguar Land Rover, The good news is Ford actually let Jag Landie in much better shape than whe they bought it.

Land Rover is going full tilt on the global market. Russia and China love the vehicles (not to mention the big push Tata will give them in India!), so there won't be much trouble with sustaining solid sales numbers into the next several years. This is even with high gas prices, the vehicles are simply outstanding value for what they provide in ultimate utility, capability and versality.

They've got to bring the diesels to the States. I love my LR3, but $500 a month on gas is a waste.
