It looks amazing in darker colors- as I knew it would. Silver and white are not this car's forte.

I also saw this car in real life today and it was - by far - the biggest dissapointment of the IAA. I can't think of anything particulary good about it.. it's ugly, looks un-Jaguar and some of the interior materials look and feel just a cheap. I miss the nobleness in the materials like older Jags had..

Can someone talk me out of this?? Please? I want Jaguar to be succesful again - just not with this car.

Oh I'll try Sevor.
Come on you and everybody has been saying that retro is dead and that Jaguar needs a new direction.

So I posit this idea! Forget that Jaguar ever existed and take this car on its own merits and I think you will see it in a different light. Thats what Jaguar is trying to do. reinvent the brand with a new design lexicon. Now go and look again and get back to me.

What I think they should do is MODERNIZE the current theme, with the pure Jaguar design intact. A perfect example of this theme is the XK; it looks beautiful. Best-looking in its class, in fact.

However, the XF just doesn't seem to look like a Jag. It does not have its own identity. It could be a Lexus or something, and there are too many design quirks to maintain a sexy shape. Ian Callum has also messed up the XJ with this same formula, taking last year's still-gorgeous design and tacking on something that just doesn't work.

I think Ian Callum is best left to Aston Martin, where he has worked wonders. But this is just not what I thought it would be, should be, can be. I hope he realizes that. The next XJ should be beautiful- it should blow everyone else's full-sized sedan out of the water. The XF simply does not.

Well Well

I am pretty sure i was one of the few (if not the only) poster on this site to state the XF was ugly and that there was nothing classy about it when the pics were first published.

Back then I got a lot of "Wait till you see it in person" comments

Well, somebody else has seen it and says IT IS UGLY AND UNREMARKABLE

Told you, Lincoln LS HVAC controls will not cut it in a JAG, but its okay i guess, the american market will not notice the difference. UK/European buyers will though. I can guarantee it.

i agree Jaguar has a lot of heritage and just because they want to redo the brand, it doesnt mean ditching its heritage. the XK for example looks both modern and classic, you wouldnt look at it and say that could be a lexus or bmw, or anything. it looks like a Jaguar, while also not looking hardly anything like the car it replaces. the XF is nice looking but it looks generic, especially with its round curves, side vents, and low roof it could be anything. not just that but they are throwing anything of Jaguar's past that grill looks nothing like the old xj but they claim it does, that grill was tall and upright, and angled, that is a square grill nothing else. they even got rid of the traditional colors, and the Jaguar leaper. jaguar needs customers, but they are presenting as a new brand and literally running from their past, Jaguar can be modern, but still look classic. Bentley, Maserati, and Aston Martin have done it why cant Jaguar, and they all still have their history in tact....and increased sales
