Sometimes you just have to call them as you see them.

While we at AutoSpies appreciate Jalopnik's unique sense of humor, fun-loving spirit and quirkiness about covering the automotive industry, it made a pretty outlandish claim yesterday about BMW's Frozen Gray M3.

And it is downright wrong.

Read on below...

"Thirty chumps will belly up to the Bavarian bar for one of thirty 2011 BMW M3 Frozen Gray Coupes. It's $77,600 for flat gray paint, red seats, and the competition package. That's approximately $9000 for exclusive paint..."

Usually, I would applaud the blog for "keeping it real."  But, uh, they're not.

This is why. When you add up the options of the Frozen Gray M3 onto a "regular" M3, the difference is $4,895.

Mind you this does not include the price of one-day enrollment at the M School, which is priced at $1,295

Taking that into consideration, the difference becomes $3,600.

AND when you consider that BMW individual paints are a premium -- rumors have put them costing around $2,000 - $5,000 -- AND you're getting a BMW individual interior, it is pretty fairly priced.

I think Dave Chapelle could sum this up quite appropriately with "When keeping it real goes wrong."

Whether or not BMW could have done something better to commemorate 25 years of the M3 is one thing, but you cannot stretch numbers. All this from the firm who says Jeep exaggerated in its latest advertisement, yikes.

Is 00R missing something?
