James Bond Car Aston Martin DBS is Revealed
On January 17, 2006 it was announced that a new Aston Martin DBS would be used in the 21st James Bond film Casino Royale. The new DBS is based on the DB9, more specifically the DBR9 race car. Built on the VH Platform the car shares its roof, sidescreens and wheelbase with the DB9, but sits lower (by 25mm) and wider (by 40mm) than the DB9. Visually, the front end is dominated by air scoops and cooling ducts which help cool the six-litre V12 engine which has reportedly been uprated to produce more than 500 bhp. At the rear are a carbon diffuser and an integrated rear lip spoiler. Other details include a six-speed manual transmission and a removable stopwatch. A special helmet pod behind the driver's seat is present for Casino Royale but will not feature in the production version. Aston Martin is expected to build only 300 examples of the new DBS.
A combination of elegant design, innovative manufacturing processes, race-derived materials and components and Aston Martin’s unrivalled hand-build expertise makes the DBS a luxury sports car without equal. Every line, crease and curve conveys the enormous potential of the DBS, a seductive blend of refinement and raw power, provided by the hand-built V12 producing 380kW (510bhp/517PS), a top speed of 191mph (302km/h) and a 0-62mph (0-100km/h) time of 4.3 seconds.

Seriously BenzW124, this is a beautiful car. If thats how you think German car fans act then you're wrong.

Now I dont like you very much at all BenzW124, you have serious fanboy issues, I can compare you to the Lexus guys. Making fun of the one thing other than the Jaguar E-Type that is supremely British, any car made by Aston Martin, especially the one driven by James Bond in any film or novel (He actually drove a Bentley in the books) is wrong. Stop yourself and honestly think about what you are saying, you are not just poking fun at the fact that the brand is owned by Ford Motor Company, but a major component of the greatest British character ever made. Now I'm only 15 years old and I'm able to think things out that clearly in one sitting. If you even attempt to call yourself an adult, better yet a car fan, be concise and clear other than implanting your irratic thoughts on this site. I beleive in free speech but I don't believe in stupidity. Good night, and good luck to you BenzW124

Good night? It's lunchtime you idiot! Lol!
I wont bohter with you, your only a 15 year old kid. I'm a 19 year old grown man, with a 1986 Mercedes 300E I purchased from my uncle. My daddy told me this site was pro-German, Im going to have to have a talk wit him.

Benz I'm 15 but I have more common sense and I dont have to buy a 300E from my Uncle, and also I've probably been exposed to more of the auto motive world then you and I dont even have a learner's permit. Oh, your 19 that makes you such a big strong man, barely out of high school, my question is do you have a house, businesses? No you just have you baseless comments to stand on, I hope you have a good time with yourself every night, because you are going to be alone like that for a very long time. Oh, and here is some German for you... essen scheisse.

Bond should drive a Toyota Prius (to show the world how much he cares about the environment) or a Lexus LS600h (to show the world how much he cares about the environment).

Bond drives whatever the company who paid the most money for their cars to be in the movies. It just happened that through the Pierce Brosnan era that was BMW. Which gave him some odd cars. A 750iL (a sedan?!), a Z4 (cute, but no), and a Z8 (now we're actually talking a good car).
Ford finally wanted back in the action and paid a significant amount of money to put Aston back in the picture (which is also why in DAD Zao or whoever is driving an XKR)

This is a beautiful car, from the #1 maker of the most beautiful automobiles in the world. Granted, they only have 3 models, but what other carmaker can claim that their entire line-up is beautiful? Not even Ferrari or Maserati in my opinion.

Well, Maserati, but neither of their cars are THIS gorgeous. Ferrari, I agree. The 612 Scaglietti is ugly. It may have "road presence," but that's the excuse BMW fans use for the R-R Phantom.

you got a point their Will...
i remember reading an article about the AM vehicles and they rated it so eye-appealing that their was not one angle where they could say the cars where ugly. And i myself had to agree...they are truly stunning vehicles to stare at.

I'll rather have a DB9 with Sports pack. This one doesn't really look like a new model, more like a tricked out DB9.

W-124: I take it your moniker derives from the 1983-1989 E class Mercedes. I was 10 when it came out and boy- was it a game changer. Suddenly every car maker started aping the tail lights and wedge boot, Jag aped the single oscillating wiper. It was truly innovative. The 1991 E class then proceeded to fall off a cliff. It was also the year the British industry lay down and finally died. So this new Aston really has Ford mojo- BUT- it is still more beautiful than anything to have come out of Germany since. You know the old saying, only the truly confident can praise others honestly. You aren't a basket case on the inside are you?

Thats right, one of the greatest cars ever, from Germany. Its all I could afford, but at least I didnt buy some ugly old Toyota or Corolla or something like all my friends have. I told them I was going to buy a car from the best car company in the wrold, and now theyre all jealous that I have a Mercedes and they have a Toyota.

How old is this article anyway? Seems a bit dated to me. The DBS is undisputedly a beautiful car. Who can argue with a high perf version of one of the most beautiful cars in the world (DB9)? Even though I am probably considered a "German car Fanboy" by many on this site, I recognize talent when I see it. I have long been a fan of Aston design. In many ways I consider them even more attractive than recent projects from the Italian design houses of Pininfarina, Zagato and Bertone. Aston has always managed to remain unmistakably British. The current line has an almost "Savile Row" look them. Absolutely timeless!

"The current line has an almost "Savile Row" look them."
You know one of the ironies of the design world is that a surprising number of Italian designers have a fair amout of their personal wardrobes made on Savile Row.

I don't. I'd take mouth-watering style, refinement and luxury with an incredible drive over the Vette any day. The DBS may not be supercar-fast by today's standards, but it's still fast enough for me.

Beautiful. Need I say more? This car, and its DB9 cousin, is the purest representation of beauty in today's automobile industry. It's so simple. Ian Callum is a genius.
