The Japanese Chamber of Commerce is calling on the Board of Investment to speed up approval of urgent production shifts to Thailand as manufacturing at home was damaged by last month's earthquake and tsunami. Vice-president Fukujiro Yamabe said automotive, electronics and electrical appliances were the worst hit and manufacturers needed to switch some production from Japan to Thailand.
