Jason Stathom and His Audi
What kind of car do you drive?
Jason Statham: I've got an RS6, I've got an Audi, twin turbo, 450 horsepower machine.
In the UK?
Jason Statham: In the US.
So you can't really drive it correctly because of the speed limit.
Jason Statham: It's nice to have that power.
It's nice to know it's there.
Jason Statham: That's the one, yeah.

The original Trasporter movie was the best. (The one with the 750i). The second one, with the A8 W12, wasn't so good.

From Wikipedia:
"A 750i is featured in the film The Transporter, though it is identified as a 735i in the film."
So it's a rebadged 735i.

5.0L engine was too heavy for the Jump Stunts so they used the 735
Makes you wonder about all that 50/50 Weight Distribution
How does a 318ci have the same Distribution of weight as a 330ci ?
What about the 730i to the 760iL ?
And 520d to M5
Obviously only one of those Variants can have close to 50/50 Weight Distribution so why the Silly Billies in the BMW Ads ?

Because I guess 50/50 weight distribution gets you up in the morning, right logical?
Give me a break. Judging how 'good' a car is based on weight distribution?
Hmmmm, someone forgot all the other factors that make a car good.

Porsches seem to do well with 40/60 weight distribution.

if the engine is heavier, of course the weight distibution is different.
in the 6 series, the 630i is 200kg lighter than the v8.
the weight distribution is very different, obviously.
logical, what you said is the morinic comment.
"50/50 speaks to weight distribution on the front and rear axles, moron"
yes, we know. more weight at front by engine=different weight distribution. you could balance it by putting more weight on the rear axle, but in the case of the 7 series, it would affect perfoomance. the 735 (last gen) has different weight distribution to the 750. it weighs about 200kg less. so while some may be 50/50, other engine options may not.
what I95 said is perfectly correct, i have no idea why you would challenge a fact.
btw I95, the 318 (current saloon) weighs 120 kg less than the 330. indeed, the auto transmission adds 15 kg to those figures.
diesel engines weigh more than petrol engines, but oddly the 520i manual weighs the same as the 330i automatic. (at 1485 kg). the 520d weighs in at 1510 kg. (auto 10kg more).
the m5 weighs in at a massive 320 kg more than the 520d, at 1830 kg.
the 760Li weighs 375 kg more than the 730i. i don't know the actual weight distibtuion, but you can guess that they will be different.
50/50 doesn't have that much to do with handling, suspension has more. the "classic" range rover had perfect 50/50, and that handles as well as jelly.

Actually, it's funny that most people think a 50/50 distribution is a good thing... The truth is that it depends.
If you drive sedately, as most people do on the road, then it is a good thing.
However, has anyone ever looked at the weight balance of an F1? It is not 50/50. Far from it. Why? Because you need an uneven weight distribution under heavy acceleration to limit slip and under heavy breaking to prevent dive. It helps manoeuvrability under these extreme conditions.
You still don't buy that? Test drive a 911 vs. an M5 at the limit and you will understand.

I don't like cars with ergonomically flawed interiors Logical.
Your lack of logic speaks volumes again.
I can tell you obviously didn't know Porsche does a 40/60 weight distribution on the 911.
Of course that car is a POS too right?

The 50/50 weight distribution in BMW's is more marketing-driven than engineer-driven.
The marketing department insists on it, as it sounds good in their ads.

The old phrase comes to play, 50/50 is perfect as long as you don't break or accelerate.

M53R,
did you not see my post? 50/50 means nothing. my 13 year old range rover has 50/50, that handles like crap. 50/50 just means it goes round corners very neutrally, but in a straight line, it is figity. (think of a shopping cart, put everything in the centre and it wobbles around the centre, due to its centre of gravity.)

All aboard.. There goes the hate train... LIG. Each car has it's market why all the bashing? Audi makes a great car as do BMW and dare I say it... Mercedes (sometimes) My preference is Audi becuase it is an overall great car. And as for the rebadged VW comment, Audi once existed as it's own Company, not Lexus, not Infiniti can make that claim. They were bought out after World War 2 shut down most of the German car factories. Hell most companies share technologies. MB bought the rights to use VW's VR5 engine and BMW used to supply engines to Rolls Royce and Bentley before they bought Rolls and VW bought Bentley. It didn't make them less Rolls or Bentley. And at 800,000 plus units per year world wide Audi could exist as a stand alone.

The Q7 does has 50/50 weight distribution. Then new A4/A5 will use similar technology as on the Q7 to get a more balanced weight distribution.

logical, your lack of logic speaks volumes again.
People buy an Audi because although they know of the depreciation, it doesn't bother them because they have lots of money to spend anyway. They can take the hit on the car's value and it won't matter to them at all.
Oh yeah, I think you forgot the RS6 held its value better than the M5 or E55 and the Audi A4 holds its value better than a Mercedes C-class.
Get some proper facts before you post because I'm going to prove you wrong on every post that you make that is based on opinion instead of fact.
Valets will praise those who buy Audi knowing they can afford to spend so much on a car and even when the value drops they don't care and can buy another one or two or three if they wanted to!

Resale on Audi's RS models are higher than respective high-performance BMW M and Mercedes AMG models.
Audi the classy man's choice who can just as easily go out and buy a BMW or a Mercedes-Benz.

logical - yea you'll laugh when someone pulls up in an Audi and probably make some side comment within earshot of the person who owns it...but then they'll throw you the keys and tell you to park it and shut it while they go INTO the club.
What club to you belong to that the members drive nothing but MB and BWMs? And where the Valet's laugh at someone pulling up in an Audi, either the simple A4 to the very nice A8L?
