Jay Leno takes delivery of first 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8
As May came to an end, Dodge shipped out the first 1,000 Dodge Challenger SRT8s to their rightful owners. The first 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 in the world was delivered today to Big Valley Chrysler Jeep Dodge of Van Nuys in California where owner Jay Leno took delivery of the 425-hp muscle car.

So does Jay Leno just walk into a dealership pick up his car and leave? Not at all. From the pictures, it seems like many people came out to watch Leno get behind the wheel of his new 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8. Apparently LAPD was also on hand to...

The Challenger is a bit tubby... too big of a car. And the interior is very disappointing. Too bad Dodge didn't see fit to go for the concept car's interior design, and to equip the top model with a stick. This is just an oversized, overpowered coupe. I think the Camaro will be much more interesting.

Gee wonder how much over sticker he paid? He must have used the money stuck in the cushions of his Bugati.

He paid six figures for it at Barrett-Jackson last January.

Price is never an issue with Leno. An avid car collector will pay whatever he feels is right for a car. I believe he makes $12-15 million a year from NBC annually so I'm sure this is pocket change for him.

Jay still does a ton of stand up - almost nightly and he has stated several times that he lives on that money and banks the NBC dough.

Do you know what's funny? Chevy announced the new Camaro long before Dodge announced this car, and this car still made it to production faster. Someone at GM needs to pick up the pace. But anyway, I really like the looks of the Challenger. I'm excited to see them on the road.

It is a good looking car although I wish the Camaro and the Challenger did not look like each other. I know there are some major differences but I still do not like it. I agree that GM is taking to long to role out the Camaro; supposedly they do not want to rush it and end up with recalls that would kill them. Hopefully it’s worth the wait especially when I am getting #224
