We we go this morning.  An anonymous tip just flashed across my desk that a Jeep dealership is claiming that the 2014 Wrangler will be a complete redesign.  As you already know the Wrangler had a fresh back in 2010 but was essentially unchanged underneath since 2006. And while I think a lot is speculation in the ad in general, simply due to the timing, we would welcome an all new Wrangler into the fold.

But something just isn't right here..

So we turn to you, the best of the best. Is this a bogus ploy for web hits or inside information leaked online?

Here is a quick summary from the dealer site.

Special thanks to a Wranglerforum.com reader for the tipoff

What to Expect from the 2014 Jeep Wrangler

While it will be completely redesigned for the 2014 release, drivers can expect a lot more of the same great strong, reliable performance they have come to appreciate from the Wrangler. The engine used in the 2013 release was a 3.6L V6 that made 285 hp; the 2014 release is expected to be powered by a similar V6, although an increase in power output is likely.

Transmission choices for 2013 were a six-speed manual and a five-speed automatic. The 2014 model will almost certainly continue to offer a manual transmission although the standard automatic may be omitted in favor of a continuously-variable model. CVTs offer a smoother driving experience and help keep the engine in its peak power band longer to improve fuel efficiency.

The 2014 Wrangler will continue to deliver the engaging off-road driving capabilities that have helped to propel its popularity. A new exterior design scheme is in the works and aerodynamic adjustments should also help to improve fuel economy over the 2013 release. A pickup version is expected to be revealed soon too, which will take the versatility of this storied utility vehicle to a whole new level.
