Jeremy Clarkson adores Mercedes CL600 but says ride is flawed
It does not, however, have the best ride. Naturally, it has air suspension, not because air suspension works better than coils and springs and dampers but because it allows the computer geeks in Merc’s underground design bunkers to fiddle about with their laptops, making it move the car about as the speed and driving style change.

The author mentions that one should opt for the V12 or be considered a failure in life. He fails to mention that the V12 itself is a failure as it is a SOHC engine with only 3 valves per cylinder. I'd rather have the DOHC V8 with 4 valves per cylinder as I do not wish to be seen as being technology deficient.

You are right and completely unchallenged on that statement. Mercedes-Benz can do no wrong! To total automotive supremacy! Screw democracy! WOOOH!!!!

Hyundai= why don't you just relax and take it easy.
You see I drive a 2005 Black 500SL and completely love my car, it doesn't miss a beat. Can’t I express my love without someone knocking me in the head about it?

Fair go.

Mercedes-Benz is far from the best automaker in the world, that's why.

This is presence. If I could afford a CL600 in Europe I would go for it. Instead I ordered the also very powerful and fast CL500.

I prefer the old CL as opposed to the new 1. (the new 1) = I like the rear, but the front is terrible! The old CL circular lights were muchhhh better! To me, the new CL looks like an extended version of a the CLS, which is literally a boat!

The new CL looks like the old SEC, and that is (at least for people who care about Mercedes heritage) a good thing. It also has the best interior in the business.

farhank, I have to agree with you. In fact that is the reason I recently purchased a 2003 CL600 with the AMG sport package. I think the new CL headlights look like fried eggs. Just my opinion.
Maybe because I come from a racing background I wish Mercedes Benz would have made the V12 with 48 valves and double overhead cams. In fact I would have traded some of the bells and whistles for those engine upgrades.

The CL is the only Benz I like but the LS600h is more environmentally friendly and performs better.

"more environmentally friendly"

Who cares. I don't. Global warming my ass. More like global marketing to me.

"performs better."

No it doesn't.
CL600 0-100 kmh in 4.4-4.5
LS600h 0-100 kmh in 6.3

I find these top end Merc's to be even more appealing than Bentley's/RR's, etc.

Although when it comes to style and curb appeal in this price range, I LOOVE the Maserati Quattroporte (although it competes with the 7, S class, etc., it sort of stands alone so I feel just fine metioning it here). Someone give this car some credit - the interior is gorgeous! An the sound of an Italian car purring....love it.

The new CL is one of the finest examples of automobile technology to ever leave Stuttgart. The CL600's only drawback is the lack of the body "sport package" in the US market. Short of that, it is sleek, fast and the most well built Benz in recent memory.
