His selections are typically British.
White sporty hatchback?
Can be the best MPV with sliding door, without style, without power?
The definition and the selection of sportcar/convertible are not clear. Are the MX5 and SLK55 sportcar or convertible?

These kind of categorizations and tankings are confused. Mixing up everything, not related to any kind of evaluation. "By feeling is not exact." This is a typical selection from the people who never bought a car for usage, but getting "top-fuels" for fun.

Really good list: the fantastic Veyron, the pocket rocket GTI, the all fun Miata, the Phantom,

Nice to see the garbage made by Lexus (SC) on the bottom of the list

This article is pretty old. I remember reading it last year.

I haven't even looked at it- but I think my car is his second-favorite convertible, behind the XK, of course. It's British.

Jeremy Clarkson and his whole crew are a bunch of jerks. They are not automotive journalists, they belong in tabloids. The worst part is, Europeans eat into his banters.

Without even reading this article, what does it matter what anyone says the best cars are. If you love Yugos then buy one and be happy with it. If you don't than keep your thoughts to yourself since they do not influence anyone.

People nowadays are so brainwashed into believing that if celebrities like something then it is cool and we must like it to. I also bet that those same people have an IQ lower than 100.

Dumb post (again).

"If you don't than keep your thoughts to yourself..."

Ah, the crisp voice of good manners at last- if not the voice of appropriate word usage.

Should we be the official Grammar/Manners Police for these boards Cdoke?

Rupert,

I don't recall there ever being such misuse of words such as there has been on these boards lately. I've kept quiet about it for the most part, but it is rather ridiculous.

It seems there are about 5 people on here that use they're / there / their and than / then correctly.

It just makes me think that everyone on here is...well, ait. ;)

RupertRupert - 10/7/2007 6:50:44 PMView My AgentSpace

Your and you're also seems to be particular problem...many of the other users do indeed spell like they're ait...(good one btw) :)

Some we can forgive for English not being their first language...but there are some who appear to lack any literary skills whatsoever.

And that, my friends, is how to use, they're, their and there.
Next week: to, too and two.

Another problem is the inability to spell definitely...I've seen definatley, defenitley, definatly...they're all definitely wrong :)

Also Agent 001 can't spell marque (as in a car marque).
He writes marquee, which is, in essence, a big tent.

"Mercedes doesn’t know how to build a bad luxury saloon and its latest may well be remembered as the best of all. Highlights include a wonderfully spacious and comfortable interior, perhaps the best ride quality of any car on the road and a superb new 5.5 litre 383bhp V8 motor. Unlike so many other luxury cars, this one is also good fun to drive hard on a decent road. Better still, from what I gather Mercedes is finally getting to grips with its recent quality problems."

I can't wait for my CL!!

LOL. Calm down.

Don't take things so seriously. There are few people on here who have perfect grammer and spelling- myself included. Cut me into pieces? Wh would you want to do that?

LOL. That sentence demonstrates the point well- I do not have perfect grammar, spelling or usage. That is what it was actually meant to point out.

S4, probably. I can't think of a time that I have seen a mistake in one of your posts. Of course, that does not mean that there haven't been any as I have a tendency to catch the more egregious examples.

jeremy is missing lot of info about maybach.... they have been a great hit in middle east & have been on par with rolls royce in middle east area. Maybach is known more in some places. All this famousness in a few years is a great thing. He is also forgetting the comparisons made between Rolls & Maybach. Maybach was placed first due to its highly sophisticated systems. I am sorry i am unable to post a link of that article.

This list is about as relevant to most American's as...

Screw It!

It's Not Relevant In The Least!

I personally like a few of the vehicles on his list, but the rest are about as appealing as British (so-called) Cuisine... as In Not At All!

Yes, that quirky British taste. Problem with those folks is that they really drive cars on a mix of decent and really bad roads, and they don't care to get sucked in by the marketing BS on TV.
They are certified car nuts, and tend to know what's good and what's sh**. The American and Japanese cars that are good for driving 25 MPH to return the video or take on the American freeway don't tend to offer the handling needed over there.
In the US you have smooth roads, but sometimes pot-holes.
In "the old country" its more like off-roading at high speed.

Canadian roads are generally pretty poor. I think that's why European cars are more popular here than in the US.
Different conditions lend themselves to different vehicles.

Only us British could invent something that first goes with gravy and beef then you have for tea (and I do mean afternoon tea) with golden syrup...I love Yorkshire pudding...it's like a puffy pancake!

We take everyone else's food and change it for our climate...spaghetti bolognese gets carrots, onions, peas occasionally, and then if you don't have any pasta, slap on some potato and ta-da! Shepherd's Pie! British food is so adaptable...

If there was an off-roader class, I'd nominate my Jeep. The only thing it's good at is offroading and towing, it's weak in every other category (except for the leather seats perhaps), but visually, it's still better than the new Jeeps imo.

Your GC is a car designed for a different time...but it is quite a timeless design.
I'm banking on it being a future classic...
