John McCain Say He Wants To Meet ANYONE That Thinks Chrysler Will Survive - What About You?

Chrysler brand may not be here, Dodge brand may not be here. RAM and JEEP, probably so, along with a bunch of cool Italian cars. Sounds good to me.

BTW, John McCain might recall how much in favor he was of the auto bailout while he was on the campaign trail.

Unless you work directly in the assembly line of one of either Chrysler or GM, I don't think you should have an opinion on whether they should have gone bankrupt along time ago.

McCain married into wealth and doesn't need to worry about how to find money to feed his kids and paid for mortgage on his 7 houses or however many he own.

I dont think they will fail. they just need to restructure and focus on marketing their brands to the right people. JEEP will never fail. It cannot be allowed because the wrangler will always sell extremely well.

None of the garbage 3 are worth to be paid any penny, they're beyond corrupt, instead of the government bailing out the innocent home owners they chose to keep the rich richer and still do nothing to the economy.

McCain is right, they should have left them go into bankruptcy and burn on their own then come back on their own, if they will EVER be able to come back on their own, which will never be because their product is just garbage!

I agree with McCain.

Let's see how GM is doing;

First, they say that they made $3B in cash last quarter. Well, they did and they didn't. Sure they posted $3B in cash but most of that came from the INTEREST on the $50B that us taxpayers gave to them. Yes, that money is sitting in a fund gaining interest until they need to draw down on it to pay for negative operating costs. In the meantime, the interest it makes adds to their cash position making it look like their operations are doing much better than they actually are.

Second, GMN says that they are going to start to repay the loans early (starting next year). Guess where that money is coming from? Not from operations, but from interest and principle from the $50B that we loaned them - that's right folks, they are going to start to pay us back with our OWN money!

Third, this ain't gonna turn around for at least 5 years (if ever). GM still has over 200,000 employees. Sure that is down about 1/3 but they are selling less than 1/2 of what they used to sell. Therefore, they are still overbloated with employee costs which will ruin any profits.

Fourth - GM's plan is to use the bailout money for the next five years to prop up what is essentially a money-losing business until the economy turns around. Unless they change the way that they do business from the gound up (or sell 2x what GM has ever sold before), they will eventually be in the same position.

Last - We will NEVER see any return on our 60% ownership. GM shares would have to go higher than they have EVER gone in history for our public 60% share to be worth the amount that we have invested.

Anyone who can read a balance sheet can figure this stuff out. Its not rocket science.

Everyone that is into politics need to stay focused on what they know best. POLITICS. Who is he or anyone else into politics to say who, what, when, how, where, or ANYTHING PERIOD about the Auto industry? With that said, he is entitled to his own opinion. Thats all I see his comments as. He is no expert in the auto industry.

I might as well be asking him about our Chicago Bears and what our offense needs to do. I dont know, maybe its just me. Just my 2cents...
